Bearstock the party - what do you want?

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

Okay, it's time to get some wheels (29" obviously) on the wagon and get things rolling. Some of you will be aware that there's a party planned for summer and in a effort to make it as enjoyable for those attending and as stress-free as possible for us, I could do with some feedback.

The date was going to be the weekend of June 25th / 26th but now the YD300 has been announced I'm considering moving to July 2nd / 3rd in the hope of allowing everyone the chance to attend both.

1/ Would you consider attending on July 2nd / 3rd? There is a stipulation that you MUST arrive by bike. NO dropping stuff off before and NO cars allowed. However, there's no stipulation about where you ride from. You could make a proper trip out of it and ride from home or park 5 miles away.

2/ As we all know there's nothing free in this world or the next, so which of the below do you think are important? The more of them there are then the more it'll cost. Obviously, there's the option of having none, making our own 'entertainment' and incurring no costs. I can foresee tickets costing a maximum of £20 if we had everything. There will be the 'Tussock Racing World Champs' taking place over the weekend regardless.

Live music.
Hot food - Sat evening
Hot food - Sun morning

Any other feedback, ideas, etc gratefully received. If you don't want to post here, feel free to email me.

I expect sexy sheep, and will accept nothing less.

(Somewhere flat and relatively dry would be nice for sleeping, also BBQ food? £20 sounds plenty reasonable.)

Flat / dry camping field is sorted. If we go the hot food route, I think we can do better than BBQ fare

We must stand a reasonable chance in early July.

A few barrels of beer (something from Purple Moose in Porthmadog/Snowdonia/Conwy/)? The sort of thing that might be a bit hard to bring by bike so would be happy with £20 or a bit more.

Early July is my preference as the 25th June is a family weekend away.
Bikes, beer, sunshine and music is all I want.

This sounds bloomin brilliant Stu.

I'm hoping my plans fall through so I can come to this now ;-)

£20 seems pretty reasonable, like others have said BEER, we need BEER a hip flask can only last so long.

This plus hot food/bbq. And somewhere flat to sleep as my silynylong base bivvy is like a tabogon!

I would prefer 25-26 June as I am otherwise engaged on the 2nd/3rd July.

Can't do 2/3 july as I'm at a "not optional" family do.
25/26th June is my preferred date.
Beer and food is good.
Might be bringing Billy.

Instead of thinking "This sounds great", but not actually confirming with anyone and then feeling annoyed when it gets cancelled because no bugger confirmed, then yes I'm in.

And beer and meat.

Early July fine by me - not that I was planning on doing the 300, but the boys are keen in this and they are with their dad on the 25/6th weekend.

Happy with 20 - would the kids be discounted? They aren't big drinkers after all ;)

I will be in Ireland on 25/26 June so unable to make that weekend. Will need to check with Herself regarding 2/3 July seeing as I will have been away for a couple of weeks. I am a possible the second weekend.

Some shelter from the sun would be great!

20 quid for beer, food, music and somewhere to pitch...perfectly reasonable. Throw in on top of that the probability of someone coming to serious harm racing amongst the tussocks and what's not to like? :)

Anytime will do.

Early July works well as I'm hoping to be somewhere in June that would take priority over a field full of blokes in wales, all due respect etc! Riding from home, scotch bottle bar roll addition at the ready. £20 for food/etc sounds very fair. Even more so if the band's any good : )

Sounds interesting - July sounds better for me.
What's the location?
What are the toilet/washing arrangements? (Licked by a cow, dried by a sheep?)

I think I can manage £20 worth of beer ;)
