Does anybody know if you can buy cassette locking rings with a longer thread than the standard issue Shimano ones?
Only looking for a couple of extra threads and a finer fit.

I've not checked specifically, but velosolo might do that sort of thing.
I had a similar issue with certain combos of spacers sprockets and hubs when setting up singlespeed.

Re: Cassette locking rings
I reckon the SRAM ones have a longer thread the Shimano ones. Also Ian could be right about those ones. Try also Problem Solvers, always good little bits & bobs to get you out of the sh1te, or make things work which weren't meant to! Fleabay always turns up something good, and if you buy from China you get some bling colours and free post to boot!

If you've got deep pockets i think the Chris King Ti ones are 1-2mm deeper..

worth giving charlie the bike monger a call. he is always good with unusual stuff.
that's meant as a compliment BTW!

Thinner spacers might be a better alternative - what sizes are you currently using?
Try the "Mini top up kit" from here...velosolo

Re: Cassette locking rings
Finally got to a DT Swiss dealer today to check out the free hub threads.
Appeared to be ok.
Checked the cassette stack and fitted a SRAM locking ring which torqued right up as it should.
Job done £2.50.
