Storing bikes indoor - numpty question
Sadly the other day I became "a statistic" when some scrotes broke into my bike shed. Luckily they only got away with an old HT but I'm right peeved off.
Mrs B is allowing me to keep the fat bike and 29er in the spare room but they will be next to the radiator, daft question but apart from making sure the tyres/bikes aren't actually touching the hot radiator the dry heat won't dry out the chain/lube will it? (I appreciate bikes are ridden in hot climates but that's different... isn't it?)
Cheers

Well oil is somewhat heavier than water so any evaporation will be slower but a quick application of oil before you head off will see you right.
Better weight than wisdom, a traveller cannot carry

Bikes should live nowhere else!

Are tyres affected by excess heat?

Bike shops are normally indoors....
Watch for fork / suspension seals if they are getting really hot. Bikes in shop windows often suffer

Would it dry out tubeless sealant more quickly?

Turn the radiator off?
Assuming it's a room that only has occasional use just switch the radiator on when required?

I've had my road tyres go bang in the middle of the night due to the heat increasing the pressure! Was living in Manchester at the time, so nearly pooped my pants

Would a Ti bike be best given its heat transmission properties, hence its use in cookware?GregMay wrote: Nothing quite nice a nice warm bike on a cold morning ride.
I foresee an STW question "what bike for toasty hands?"
Re: Storing bikes indoor - numpty question

Oddly, I remember having a chat with one of the guys at Surly about why black was a really ****ing stupid colour for a bike as it gets far too warm in direct sunlight. He didn't get me when I remarked it's not an issue in the UK.
