I was up at 6am to shoot the sunrise on Dartmoor on Saturday, first shoot on the new camera.

I just think odd.

Did you have actual frozen turf already? It's not quite got to that stage down our way yet.

Finished processing everything from my last proper shoot now… just in time for next weekends.

Sunrise over Sharpitor (Dartmoor), just a few minutes after the last shot I uploaded.

Image

East Dart waterfall, also from the same day. Somewhat different from my last visit in the middle of the summer where it was a perfectly good swimming temperature. Wouldn't have wanted to have found myself in there on this shoot…

Remember that gully on the Kentmere Horseshoe, a bit of hands on knees to get up on to the ridge from Garburn Pass. Was a boiling day when I did the race though, a couple had to be taken to hospital with heat stroke.

Taken the day before Daniels photos up there. On the old railway to Princetown, in fact that's probably leather tor just left of centre.

Image

Next day when it had all calmed down a bit. Looking south from widgery cross

Image

Incredible morning up on great links tor looking east. Nearly 2000ft ASL and not a breath of wind. Only a walker for company who you can see heading off to Fur tor mid frame.

All taken on iPhone 6.

I concede Daniels Photos are of a professional quality, but mobile phones don't half take good photos these days too.

Thanks Simon, that waterfall makes for an amazing wild camp spot. Got some stunning results there last summer, which I've now got framed on my flat wall. I'd post it up here, but it wasn't in the last month

Hmm, I'm regularly surprised by how quickly phone cameras are moving on. A friend has a phone now where you really do get full control. Manual shutter, aperture, ISO etc.

Heat stroke was not a worry on Saturday :) But yes, it's a right drag up through there, but once you're up, it gets quite runable quite fast.

Thanks, the day was bleak, most of is with hoods up and huge wind limiting words. Hence the mood of the photos.

Because that was one of my all-time favourite adventures, one of the best days walking I've ever had despite a monster blister, and it makes me smile every time I look at it. That's far more reasoning than I'll ever need in my book
