I need a new tarp

Post by Matt »

Just big enough for one (but not tiny, want a bit of flexibility)

Packs up small

Will last

What are my options?

Also needs to be in stock.....

I quite fancy one of these http://www.bearpawwd.com/tents_tarps/canopy_tent.html granted it's a bit of a tarp/tent hybrid but I think it offers the best of both worlds. I've had stuff from them before, pretty quick turnaround although you might get stung with customs.

Seems a bit tent(ish) also not sure it would arrive in time.

My London to Wales epic sets off on the 20th July

Integral Designs Siltarp 1 Tarp
Good choice. In the absence of trees, you can pitch it like this, which I find quite easy and very effective:

Hi all

First post from me. New to the forum and bikepacking so be gentle with me ;)

How about a DD Tarp Solo http://www.ddhammocks.com/product/

In stock and a good price. Not sure of the pack size and whether it's light enough for you. The bushcraft folk seem to love the DD Hammock stuff for value for money/quality, especially the DD tarp (3m x 3m).

I like your tarp bicycle Ian, might try that with mine. I've got a 3x3 which should give me enough for a ground sheet too.

I'm going to try this set up on my next outing. Just a few pegs and one guy

SilTarp 1 arrived yesterday. First impressions are it's very small packed, much smaller than I'd have hoped for.

It's also not quite as big unpacked as I'd thought but looks sort of just right to adequate for a solo shelter.

My god it slippey!

But overall without using it I think I'm pleased (slight niggle that Sil Tarp 2 may have been a better all rounder)
