ID silshelter

Post by BreninBeener »

Hi, im new to tarps etc. I have bought one of the above (and a bugliner for when its super hot and dry when i do the Cairngorm loop!).
It says 1 pole to set up, but recieved wisdom says two different sized poles.

Before i order from the BB shop, should i consider carbon? And is there an approved way of pitching? It came with two lengths of guy lines and 6 v pegs. Can i ask how people are actually pitching and using them?

Thanks

Ian

In my (possibly slightly biased) opion the Silshelter really does require 2 poles. After much deliberation, faffing and tea drinking I believe the ideal pole lengths to be 110cm and 45cm. The addition of a magical Bear Bones double rear line makes a big difference to how it pitches too.

Carbon / Alloy? ... depends. They're roughly the same weight, carbon's less flexy (although at those lengths alloy isn't very flexy either) but the carbon has a special bling effect, that alloy just can't replicate

Sounds just about the right height for me to get dressed under and do some burpees to warm up before and after bed

Could even swing a cat too...?

Thank you Ben, 'tis been a long weekend and I'm nursing a cold. However, I have edited my dimensions to something a little less spacious
