Velodyssey GPX

Hi All,

I'm looking at the GPX files for the Velodyssey (West coast France route here - http://www.velodyssey.com/la-velodyssee/gps-tracklog) and I want to make some edits to them. I've normally done this in GPS Track Editor, but as there are large chunks of timestamps missing from the downloaded GPX files this is proving challenging.
So I have 2 questions..
1) Am I being an idiot and the timestamps are uneccessary, if so why can't I edit them?
2) Can I add timestamps to enable me to edit the files (GPS Track Editor is not very good at adding these)
