What time of year and what sort of a distance and height do you want to ride per day?

Snowdonia covers quite a big area north to south, have you a specific area in mind? North around Snowdon itself? Somewhere toward the middle - Dolwyddelan area? Further south around Cadair?

As John says, an idea of mileage and whether you're going in winter or waiting until spring would be good.

Good riding with a decent off the rangers path behind snowdon. Just remember to hold on. Loads of campsites in the area.

Hi Guys, thanks for your help. What my single malt fuelled brain didnt explain is that i live between Bangor and Llanberis.

Im fairly fit from being a roadie/ triathlete. Im comfy with being outdoors and have the kit and camping experience safe outdoors. Im just sorting some harnesses for bikepacking and agonising over tent (which i have) or bivi and tarp.

I was really asking for some routes for overnight trips. Either a day ride, camp and then day ride back (preferably in a loop) or an after work jaunt for 3ish hr, camp and ride next day.

I was hoping with some suggestions i could choose from a menu of routes depending on weather/time available.

So in short im happy to have my eyes opened to anything. I prefer offroad, but a ride from my house (or a drive) to get to somewhere fun is fine.

thanks

Ian

I'm near conwy so I'm pretty close.

there's plenty to go at mate especially where you live. I done my 12/12 bivvy a month last year and they were all in north Wales. Drop me another pm for any more info if you like or just ask on here :-bd

Pack up the bike, arm yourself with a map and go ride them hills

how about a 2 day Tour of Anglesey? Admittedly this is better on a fat bike to take in the beaches

Some bivy spots for my end of Snowdonia:

There is a good spot bivy spot in Beddgelert forest near the lake or the top of the bridleway pass over to Cwm Pennant (I have bivied up here in the summer walking the Moel Hebog ridge).

The top of Cefn Du at the trig point or the old Beacon ruin.

The crag on Moel Tryfan over near Rhosgadfan.

Llanddwyn Island on Ynys Mon with great views back towards Snowdonia.

Some guys from Singletrackworld.com once stayed up in Dinorwig quarry ruins but this looked rather miserable and grey. Better to ride through than stay the night.

If you do end up in Capel Curig the Pinnacle Cafe is rubbish, I would use Moel Siabod cafe instead about a mile down the road towards Betws.

Chris.

My outdoors sporting pursuits will always start or pass through the Siabod cafe if I go to north Wales

Guys, thanks for the bivvy spots and advice.

I now need to buy a little more kit to make it a reality.

And its payday soon. First on list is a proper inflatable mat, and some bar and saddle harnesses.

then i can go out and play

Purty,

Does the warden live on the island on Anglesey? And do you know if the water tap at the main carpark for Newborough Forest is left on all year round?

Cheers
