Scores on the Doors: 2014 Totals

Post by Ian »

I'd be surprised if I was the only one doing this, but I've just totted up my riding totals for the year, before the Veloviewer signature image reverts to zero tomorrow.

An extract from my blog post of this evening:

Despite various set-backs over the year, I managed to lay down more miles and climb more metres than I did in 2013. Here’s how things have totalled up:

- Number of rides completed: 84
- Total distance ridden: 5,335 km (3,315 miles)
- Total elevation gained: 105,052 metres (344,659 feet)
- Duration: 381 hours, 47 minutes
- Average speed/ distance/ elevation: 14.0 km/h (8.7 mph) / 63.5 km (39.5 miles) / 1,250 metres (4,103 feet)
- Longest ride: 223 km (138.5 miles) on the Bear Bones 200
- Max elevation gained: 6,829 metres (22,404 feet) on the Lakeland 200

Given that all those are mainly off road rides, most on a singlespeed and some on the fatbike, and not to mention the amount of hike-a-bike endured, I’m quite content with what I’ve achieved.

Roll on 2015 :-bd

Wishing everyone the very best for the New Year :YMPARTY:

(My excuse for not being drunk is that I'm ill)

Here are my (significantly less impressive) stats:

- Number of rides completed: 101
- Total distance ridden: 3,010 km (1,870 miles)
- Total elevation gained: 65,712 metres (215,590 feet)
- Duration: 193 hours, 38 minutes
- Longest ride: 168 km (102 miles) in the road in Majorca
- Max elevation gained: 3,971 metres (13,028 feet) on the (failed) BB200

Given the half-arsed approach to health and fitness I sported in 2014 I think I'm lucky I managed this much!

I fully intend the numbers for 2015 to be significantly more impressive.

MERRY NEW YEAR folks!!!

2014's New Years Resolution was to A) Ride to work whenever possible, B) To average 100 miles a week for the whole year and C) Do the Strava Grand Fondo each month (More than one done on the last day like today!)

- Number of rides completed: 334 (Not inc Turbo sessions  )
- Total distance ridden: 5,271 Miles
- Total elevation gained: 44,085 metres (I live by the coast in Suffolk!)
- Duration: 401 hours
- Longest ride: 140 miles on the Bear Bones 200
- Max elevation gained: 5532 (BB200 again)

I'm going to try and do A, B & C again and see if I can add the Bivi a month to the list....

I did 199 rides totalling 5068.04km and 113817m of ascent. Average speed 15.04kmph fastest 72.14kmph.

Don't have the tech to know longest ride and most climb. But longest ride would be the bb200 guessing the most climb too.

I don't Strava, but I did roughly log my distance. I feel like a bit of a sloth compared to some of the scores above, but I'm using recovery from a broken foot as my excuse. :-)

Trainer + outdoor riding up to the end of May was ~2400km
~3300km in the US June/July.
~1900km since July

So somewhere in the vicinity of 7600km (4700-ish miles).

Guesstimate on height: > 180,000 feet.
Best climbs: 11,482' (Boreas Pass) and 11,910' (Indiana Pass)

Looking forward to a bigger 2015.

Greetz

Somewhere between 7-8000km. Last year I kept track of every km I rode, so I didn't bother this year!

I'm guessing John you bean the equivalent distance to Beijing?! I got all excited for a moment that I would have a brilliant blog to read

Had a good year, total mileage down a bit from last year but fully loaded bikepacking miles way up! Psyched overall.

2014 Year-to-Date

Distance - 6,993.3 mi (11254.62 km)
Elev Gain - 484,974 ft (147820 m)
Time - 677h 35m (28 days, 5 hours, 35 mins)
Rides - 177

All mountain bike miles, mixed surfaces(mostly gravel grinding), at least 5,000 miles were with a fully loaded bikepacking bicycle.
The stats should actually a bit higher than this, I didn't have a device to Strava for about a month of riding.

Notable climbs:
- Trail Ridge Road, Rocky Mountain National Park - elevation 12,183' (3,713 m)
- Indiana Pass, Colorado - elevation 11,910' (3,630 m)
- Boreas Pass, Colorado - elevation 11,482' (3,499 m)

Happy New Year everyone, keep pedaling!

Less than previous years, and less than I would have liked but other things get in the way sometimes. No excuses though, had some great days out over the last year.

Rides - 91
Miles - 2,380
Hours - 191:57
Climbing - no idea, sorry - if there's a way to get this total from Garmin connect can someone enlighten me please.

Longest ride - Scotland in May - 83 miles
Most climbing - Wales in July - 5,883 ft

Nights out camping/bivvying - 16

For 2015 - More entries in the bivvy a month thread

I have no idea how many rides I undertook, how far I rode, what height I climbed or what the average speed of it all was, I doubt I can actually recall all the places I went or quite where I spent the nights ... but I do know that I enjoyed every single mile

10,134 km and 110,945m of climbing across 329 rides totalling 477 hours.

Mostly commuting though with the odd big ride to bump the climbing and mileage totals up. Really enjoyed last year, but now suffering with motivation to get kicked into gear for 2015.

Sadly I cannot say the same, CAN I STU?

But BB200 aside it's been my longest off road year ever and this year will hopefully be even longer

You have to embrace the crap ones too Dave ... they're the ones that let you know you're well and truly alive. In years to come, the only people with regrets about last years BB200 will be those who didn't do it

A poor year for me. I had 3 weeks off the bike for a trip and when I got back a few rides later broke my elbow and another 3 weeks off. After a 200km ride in early November I got a cold, recovered to do a few rides, go to India and get another cold and the last 7 weeks of the year were pretty awful.

33% off road this year (66% in 2013)

146 rides
8,071 km, longest: London to Derby 241km
458 hours (incl 18 on the turbo)
66,684 elevation (Clwydian audax at 2,792 hghest in one ride)

About 4350 miles I think give it take but still trying to get data from the cat eye !!

Month off in middle worried me a bit but actually enjoyed the rest and was fired up to put the grunt work for the 200

Should easily beat that this year I think as have a ride in August which will put the best part of 1000miles on the clock!

Not sure I smiled every mile of 2014 but close enough I'd say!!

The BB200 was more than 10% of my total :???:

My numbers look more impressive than they are. This is mostly commuting, and it's flat here. The traffic makes cycle commuting the better option

6,576 miles
453 hours and 26 minutes
63,948 metres elevation gain

I'm impressed given the year actually :ugeek:

here are my stats, albeit heavily commuting influenced with only BB200 on the MTB and a smattering of training for it. need to reveres this for 2015.
Good: I did manage my longest road and mtb rides ever and reclaimed my leading time on the Warblington chase TT (Family time trial challenge). and got an 'eversting' though the BB200 is probably harder.
Bad: did fall short of my arbitrary 2014 mileage challenge of 10,000 k's in the year (only 60% achieved).

- Number of rides completed: 260
- Total distance ridden: 5,976 km
- Total elevation gained: 51,735 metres
- Duration: 277 hours,
- Longest ride (Road): 322.7 km (138.5 miles) on successful 'Everesting' ride, Conor Pass, Ireland.
- Longest ride (MTB): 231.7 km (138.5 miles) on the Bear Bones 200, took 34 hours!
- Max single ride elevation gained: 9,579 metres on same 'Everesting' ride.

time to set some decent goals for 2015!! this time a more attainable 8,000km's including commuting and to do a first proper road race... and the small matter of shaving 10 hrs off my Bear Bones 200 time! Bring it!
