Bumper day today.

As well as exciting things like a new dyson and another insulated mug to replace my broken one, the custom made frame for my custom printed OS map to go in my office arrived.

It's an A0 size OS map of my home turf, with my house slightly south of centre. Really pleased with it (excuse the mess)

Who did the map for you Ben? I've always wanted one of the whole Lake District at 1:25k, like you see in YHA's etc

Lots of options for stuff but I went for a map poster. Played around with the positioning, they sent proofs through which was great. Preferred the one with hillshading on it. Despite being in London there are a few very small not-even-close-to-real-hills near me and it highlights them nicely

Worked out cheaper getting a poster and a custom frame from somewhere else, even in A0, than a smaller one direct from them.

It's huge in A0 form, but it's great. I like the look of the wallpaper as well. Here's a pic of what it looks like, though there's lots of glare from the skylight and my other screen

Some tempered glass screen protectors for the eTrex.

I thought my eyesight was deteriorating but it turns out wiping the rain/mud off the existing plastic screen protector for 1000s of miles has scratched it to an opaque finish.

I didn't realise now bad it was until I took the existing one off.

The whole of the Lakes at 1:25k would be quite large unless you shrunk it - it's at least 50km top to bottom, which is 2m at 1:25k. I have an old (1963) OS 1" tourist map of the Lakes (1" to a mile, so about 1:60k) on my wall. Obviously it's not up to date, but the hills are all still the same shape, and the shading really shows the shape of the land, which you don't get on the modern OS maps.

My map is 1:25k scale, and A0 size. It covers roughly 30k by 20k

You can get a bigger version B0 I think, but that's as big as they do as a poster. Definitely recommend the hillshading, adds an extra dimension.

...and dropped off some 3/4 waterproof trousers from the madison sale. It looks like I can wear them over bib shorts fine and they even just about fit over baggies too.

Bought some fork cages the other day, which I'm waiting on turning up. Rather than spending £40 per bag, from either Alpkit (3 litre capacity) or Restrap (5 litre capacity), I popped into Decathlon and bought a couple of their £9.99 kayaking dry bags (5 litre capacity), after someone one here mentioned them the other week.



The plan is mat, pillow and sleeping base layer in one, tent in the other. I think 5 litres might be too big, but was also worried that 3 litres would be a bit on the tight side, and would result in Jenga like packing. If they're too big, then I can always buy the smaller Alpkit ones in the future...

Postie delivered a SRAM XO1 crankset for my Transmitter after discovering a crack in the original left crank arm while washing the WRT off the bike. Also new bearings for the Hope BB, I can feel it going faster already
