A wetsuit.
I may try and catch hypothermia tomorrow in Wast Water
Edit - despite being the "short and strong" size there's no goddamn way it'll fit. Made in China, sized to fit the proverbial [tiny] Chinaman
Good job Alpkit are doing free returns

It attaches with 4 cable ties ... they pull in opposing directions which is a nice touch. The rear is concave and has rubber pads to help prevent any slippage. So far, it's fitted every fork I've tried it on. I still need to try it properly but I have high hopes.Bearbonesnorm wrote:Any chance of a picture or two?
Cheers for that.
Hopefully it will fit on standard fox/rockshox.

Lunar Solo from Ultra light Outdoor Gear, and a custom carbon pole from a nice man in Wales. First set up in the garden was reasonably successful

You'd have had it a day earlier if i hadn't misread the order and made you a pole for a Gatewood cape firstLunar Solo from Ultra light Outdoor Gear, and a custom carbon pole from a nice man in Wales. First set up in the garden was reasonably successful

I picked up a Sol Escape Bivvy when I was in the US - I'm going to try it out in the spring as a lightweight sleep system.
Also, a GSI Outdoors Java Grinder and Java Drip for good coffee on the move. The grinder is a luxury item though as it's quite heavy for bikepacking.

Hope the clip is a bit stronger than the Smart R2!Richard G wrote:New rear light to replace yet another one that I've kicked off / has fallen off whilst bikepacking...

I put a PDW Radbot 500 on my rigid bike the other day, the clip is the same as the R2 and I was wondering how long it might last
Re: The post man's been ...
This one seems to have a ton of different ways to mount so I think it'll be better. Definitely adding a cable tie though.

I was reading about those on the bikepacking.net site, you can get them in the UK for roughly the same price. Be interesting to hear how you get on with it, It sound like it would be worth it for "race mode"AlasdairMc wrote:I picked up a Sol Escape Bivvy when I was in the US - I'm going to try it out in the spring as a lightweight sleep system.

Nitefighter BT40s to replace my Solarstorm X2. The SSX2 still functions fine but I fell off and broke the mount so I treated myself to a new light
180mm rotor
Zefal RM29 rear mudguard - my back is getting caked from the rigid El Mariachi, that has to stop!

Just check the sizing, I've heard some people say that it's not big enough to fit a sleeping bag inside ... ie, it's still an emergency bivvy rather than a 'real' oneI was reading about those on the bikepacking.net site, you can get them in the UK for roughly the same price. Re: The post man's been ...
The comments I've seen are about not being able to lie out fully and cover your head. I'm not sure about the volume/circumference but if it was summer/race mode only use then it would just be for a lightweight sleeping bag or even just a silk liner.Bearbonesnorm wrote:Just check the sizing, I've heard some people say that it's not big enough to fit a sleeping bag inside ... ie, it's still an emergency bivvy rather than a 'real' oneI was reading about those on the bikepacking.net site, you can get them in the UK for roughly the same price. Re: The post man's been ...
An Exped Schnozzle bag - worth it just for the name
Actually I got it because on the living room test inflation of the synmat I noticed that my breath had created a small patch of condensation about 30cm from the valve. It's bigger than I expected and is made of lighter material than Exped's Dry-bags. I'm thinking it could be triple-use: dry bag for inside of main bag; pad inflator; pillow.
Need a test run before I try it in anger methinks.

Re: The post man's been ...
I'm not intending to put a sleeping bag in it. I've got a Terra Nova Moonlite which is a superlight bivi bag that I use with a sleeping bag - this is to carry as a race weight emergency sleeping bag, where it's debatable whether I'll need it or not. I've taken a Blizzard bag before, but never had to use it and hope not to as they're horrible to repack.Bearbonesnorm wrote:Just check the sizing, I've heard some people say that it's not big enough to fit a sleeping bag inside ... ie, it's still an emergency bivvy rather than a 'real' oneI was reading about those on the bikepacking.net site, you can get them in the UK for roughly the same price. This seems to be a Tyvek style material albeit with reflective coating
Re: The post man's been ...
It's a 1x10 setup, so cage is long enough, but I'm putting Deore XT for better performance.
