Got a msr stowaway seagull pot
Is that stainless? Aluminium will boil faster ;)
(is this some that could be done after completed build??)
At the moment, no. However I am having a play with a valve that enters the stove at the base, if it works then a retrofit should be possible.

Flatfish, was it just the price that swayed you on the Rab Pulse? I'm torn between that and the Montane Minimus, the latter using the same Pertex Shield+ but somehow with a claimed higher HH and about 50g lighter (Montane weights usually surprisingly reliable).

The Rab's hood is designed to fit over a helmet which I suspect is where some if it's weight is gained.

I wanted another Rab Demand Smock but they've been discontinued so I had a look around after being pointed in the direction of the Pulse. After a couple of weeks hunting different jackets, I had kind of settled on the Pulse so Google came up with Cotswolds Outdoors doing this special.
I did really want the smock version but couldn't see it for less than £110 but this was full zip for £80.
I expect the Zip and Hood adds the extra 50g's.

I'd not seen the Montane.

It's quite thin, I can read my T shirt through the material and Rab did tell me it was probably more fragile than the eVent fabric that I've used for the last three years.

Time will tell.

Besides my Rab On-Demand, I'm also very impressed by my OMM Kamleika smock.

What's it say ?

Nice one cheers. I had a good fettlage of them in Needlesports in Keswick the other week. I like the style of the Rab, specs of the Montane and stretchyness of the OMM!

Quite why they put pockets on ultralight smocks is beyond me.

I wonder why the Demand smock is being discontinued, seems a shame.

Stainless and almost bulliet proof, it actually gets good boil times with a supercat stove under 5mins 20ml meths.
Going to try cooking a fresh food meal tomo on BB 22g stove with a cheap camping frying pan that has really shocked me for its quality and weight, hopefully 30ml meth will do it all...?

Cheap 0 degree rise Funn stem from CRC. The Scandal nearly lives. Just need to wax the chain and find some inclination and it'll get it's first ride.

- some of these Alpkit Ti pegs, very nice. Should compliment my chunkier Al pegs well and at 6.5g each for 6" pegs they're impressive. Would even make a nice pair of chopsticks for next time I forget / melt my spork. Unless my packets of noodles get crushed, that could be a very drawn-out dinner.

Trailstar has arrived. Whooppeee! A month earlier than expected. Just have to learn how to bicycle it now, first pitch was embarrassingly flappy and unphotographable. Give it a month and I'll be able to do it blindfolded in a howling snow storm or whatever passes for summer this year.

FedX knocked in my door this morning and handed me a super warm Neoair Xtherm mat. Not bad considering I ordered it at 3pm the day before. Looking forward to trying it out.

With some Ergon grips and shimano SPD pedals to go on.......

THIS!

SCOTT Scale 960 by DKNWHY, on Flickr

I'd ordered it a few weeks back to replace my knackered old single speed (which is the only MTB I have and more recently, the only BIKE I have!) Fortunately, I hadn't collected it before the break in...

First ride on it this morning and I love it! First 29er I've ridden. Gonna take a while to get used to the slower steering but it rolls very well. Finally, something to smile about this week :D

After an extended conversation with Mr Fish about a replacement for the Rab Demand Smock and working out that they should never of stopped making it.

and then deciding my Rab Drillium Jacket was too bulky

A Montane Minimus jacket which is amazingly thin and light compared to the usually Rab / Event / Pace cags I've already got (plus cheap from one of Stu's links). However, shop forgot to remove the security tag so I just need to find a big bloody magnet / a friendly shop to take my off-the-internet purchase to use their tag-remover

Cheap sporks and fire steels too. The sort of consumable / one in every kit stuff that's always handy to have.

InspiredRamblings, the Gearne shoes have now seen a few outings; on tarmac there is the very occasional gruntch?! as the cleat hits the deck but for general off-road trail scrambling they seem great.

Only gripe would be they are quite well padded, so once wet they are going stay that way for the rest of the day.

I just took delivery of a pair of ESI chunky grips too, though mine are in orange, to go with my new Genesis Fortitude Race that I hope to pick up at the end of the week...

Not sure I would have ridden so many of the WRT hills on a 1x10 though!

Couple of Mammut air pillows from Flatfishy ... actually they're from Go Outdoors where they're on offer for a tenner but Go Outdoors don't have shops anywhere near the bloody outdoors!

Looks very similar to an Exped, same shape and even the same 'flat' inflation valve.
