My battery and motor were here when I got home last night .

That bike above now has a drive train and brakes.

And a theoretical range of 80km.

Will see tonight when I run some errands

Seen someone giving it beans coming through the lights on the Rob Roy bridge late afternoon TR

Picked up my new Rab Neutrino Endurance 200 from Craigdon Mountain Sports (thanks guys!) so I'll be toasty when I head out on my Inner CL trip in a couple of weeks.

Just waiting on my B+ Sherpa, next week I'm told, next week....

Locally its quite hilly.


47.5 miles covered and only 1/5th battery used. Legs felt like they were getting a work out yet i was able to ride in jeans and flat shoes + didnt arrive at various friends all sweaty- ona. Bike weighing 60lb !

Might have over specced the battery just a little for something thats only ever going to see the 15.5mph speed limit. I did unwire the speed sensor last night ( which throws an error and locks the controls after about 5 minutes ) but it did 45kph in the unrestricted state on my private road to the house as an experiment. How ever thats asking for trouble on the public highway so its restricted and frankly 15mph more than fast enough when you can do it come hell or high water.

Hmm, I'm starting to get interested in e-bikes (not as a replacement for cycling, but as an alternative for er stuff).

What's your thinking on these trail-rat? What are you going to be using it for?

Done a tiny bit of reading - re-coding the controller sounds the best way to de-restrict these - initially setup the wheel size to tiny or something as a safe quick fix.
Need to look into range, battery costs, charging times, etc. etc. Think it will need a shopping basket on it too I quite fancy plonking a bigger motor in it too.
Should be a cheaper hobby than all these ICE 4 wheeled things that need tax and insurance

I don't understand everyone's want to derestrict them. Seriously a. 15.5mph is plenty. And b. The law will come down on you one day.

When you can do 15.5mph come hell or high water it makes a huge difference to the speed you cross town. Even the best will in the world through town at rush hour you will struggle to average that on a road bike

TR: it is indeed. Proper three inch job B+ to boot.

Clearance on the chain to rear tyre at low gear is chuff all (gone SLX 2x11), might have to replace with 2.8" in time. Trail Boss definitely wider than a trailblazer for sure...

After a couple of failed deliveries my replacement Exped Winterlite Synmat has arrived. Apparently it now inflates to 9!

@firestarter: don't have calipers but both the Ranger and Trail Boss are obviously bigger than a NN 2.8 (I did a quick comp last night with my old front wheel). So that makes it likely to be a proper 3" tyre.

The post man isn't quite on his way yet but.....buttons have been pressed and card numbers have been entered for a new frame/fork.

I got some unexpected cash and, in a moment of insanity, went for a Cotic 'Escapade' (I've had a CX/gravel flavored itch for a while which has now been well and truly scratched).



It's a lovely looking bike and I've already got a set of wheels, tyres, bars, chainset and a few shifters knocking around the place and so it's only costing me 379 of your (increasingly affordable) squids for most of a lovely new bike!

All I need to do now is tell Mrs Gairy what I've done - what could go wrong?
