they look mental and like they're either the best thing since sliced bread or a silly overly complicated idea that will be a waste of time and money.

but.....i'm tempted for the 'ooooo aaaah what the hell is that' factor alone!

So in it's 3/4 form its actually heavier than the 260g neo-air.

So, the question is how does the full length Elite AC compare weight wise to the 405g full length and full width Neo-air?

after loads of reading of reviews etc... i ordered my 3/4 (2/3) length Peak Elite AC mat last night.

am looking forward to getting it out there for a trial run but.....maybe not for a week or two as next week the forecast for here is saying to expect night time temperatures of if -15 (and colder!) and i'm not that keen to find out if my kit will keep me alive!

My weight was full length, got a good one :?

Anyway, it's a probably not going to used, I have a Klymit sat here! Sod carrying additional weight, I'm going for a uber lightweight 'alpine' setup Bag, Quilt, Pillow and Mat are shattering a kilo!

If we're in full on minimal mode-

TN Moonlight Bivvybag 180g
PHD Ultra Minim sleeping bag 352g
Pillow? Clothes in drybag.
Balloon bed 102g (inc. 10 balloons)

I made a nice little balloon bed that involved 8 balloons. My mate was wetting himself with laughter while I was sorting the balloons, but I was smug as it was so light (plus got the hang of tying the balloons).

I did not have a comfortable night, but come the morning, it was properly comfy.......

I had inadvertently rolled over on to my mates 'normal' self inflating mate after he had got up :)

Guess my balloon tying skills have a lot left to be desired (it does pack tiny though!)

Your either a lover or a hater of the balloon bed.

For fast and light (3 season) one-nighters it's brilliant in my experience. But for normal trips or multiday adventures the neo-air is still better in most ways!

Slight hijack but still on topic ... has anyone seen the new NeoAir Xlite mats yet? I think there's a new 4 season model too but as usual I could be wrong
