A Bloke in a Shed Productions present ...

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

... The 'gairym multi-fuel alpine stove'. Designed (yes really) to run on meths with the included burner or solid fuel tabs if you've drunk all your meths, it'll even burn twigs, etc at a push. Total weight is 62g.

Image
To burn meths simply place the pot stand this way up over your lit meths burner, then place your pot onto the intergrated pot support ... simple.

Image
If you now need to burn tablets flip the stand over, drop the 'fuel tablet burner' insert into the bottom of the stand, light said fuel tablets and stick your pot on top ... again simple. If you run out of fuel then twigs, leaves, etc could also be used as fuel in this mode ;)

WOW!

i'm not only seriously impressed by the design but also genuinely moved by your willingness to spend your time and effort to help a fella out!

(too much emotion for an internet biking forum???)

can't wait to get it out into the hills and try the puppy out!

will obviously post a gear-review once it's had it's maiden voyage.

thanks stuart - i might have to upgrade that pint i owe you for this to a pint and a packet of pork scratchings!

cheers, gairy.

Don't worry, you obviously caught me on a good day ... as most people will tell you, I'm usually a miserable bastard ;)

I'll get it in the post early next week.

Cool! What did you use for the windshield?

Stand is a length of 1L aluminium water bottle.

I've just given it a trial run before I send it off to gairym in sunny France. 25ml of meths brought 450ml of cold water to a rolling boil in 4m 48s from blooming ... that was without any other external windshield, temps hovering around freezing with a slight breeze, so I'm happy enough with that.
