Wise choices I guess include pine forest, out of the wind, lower rather than higher?
In the forest - yes. Out of the wind - yes. Lower rather than higher - often not, if it's cold, it's often warmer on the side / top of a hill than it is in the valley bottom.

So late on Saturday evening I need a fit and willing idiot to ride up and down the nearest hill checking the temperature all the way and suggesting the warmest height. :-)

Yes and if you can select a spot that faces east that'll be even better

I'm still in!

Annoyingly I'll need to have made all of my kit choices by the 22nd as we're away from then before heading straight to the uk in the New Year.

Think I'm gonna have to plan for the worst weather/temperatures and then carry too much weight and be too warm if it's mild.

Like the sound of the evening spent in a pub before finding a hedge to sleep under

It did go cold. There were patches of ice forming on the road down to the coast by 4.00pm. Climbing back up (after a visit to the pub) I lost my gears and every puddle was iced over. Slept under / in some trees and I woke up thinking the cloud had moved in during the night ... it was only when I left the tree cover I realised it hadn't

I don't want to say too much after the confuser threw a wobbler on the morning of the BB200 route release ... but hopefully around 10.00am.

I don't suppose there's any chance there'll be a set of scales there WRT style?

I'm interested to know how heavy my set up will be (so I can compare against my WRT set up), I'm on a new bike

Stand on bathroom scales.
Pick bike up and stand on scales again.
Subtract one from the other.

Luggage scales - don't have!

Weighing scales - not working!

Only got kitchen scales which might get slightly overloaded!
