This came up on facebook - apparently mountaineers are being advised to register their phones with this service. Originally set up for the deaf - but is useful in situations where there isnt enough signal for a call but a text will get through.
Thought it would be an idea to share with others likely to be in the middle of nowhere!

I've just registered also. Brilliant idea however I do think if its a fire I could probably deal with it myself hun

Seems a no brainer really I quite often have enough battery/signal for text but not for calls
