Re: Dynamo hub for 29+
late to the party: i use a SON hub with rabbit holes and knrds. works a treat with a sinewave revolution. i charge a niterider via usb cable while riding - the idea was to not be limited by light output when moving with 5 - 10 mins reserve. it charges iphones etc fine above 6kph iirc.
Re: Dynamo hub for 29+
I am a bit late to chime in, but just wanted to share my positive experience with the SP hubs. I have almost 11,000km on my PD-8 hub and it's still going strong. I recently put a PD-8X on my trail bike with a kLite and loving that combo with the Sinewave Revolution and the Kerry's burly handlebar switch.
Re: Dynamo hub for 29+
BW - I wrote some posts about the PD-8 with Sinewave Revolution and lights on my blog a while back. I need to add a report on the kLite bikepacker light, which is a big upgrade from my previous lights. I can't comment on how it compares with a Revo light, but others seem to say it's quite competitive in performance, especially given it's lower price. I really like the Kerry's handlebar mounted switch between light and USB charger. I'll post some photos soon.

Re: Dynamo hub for 29+
I'm in a similar situation to Brian, accumulating parts in anticipation of a Rooster frame to attach them to.
At the moment, I'm only doing overnighters, but if I've got to build a pair of wheels, it makes sense to future proof them for the longer multi-day rides I'm dreaming about, so I might as well get a dynamo hub.
Trying to use what I've got, rather than buy more kit, if I can, how's this for a plan?
Use an SP PD8 and a Sinewave Revolution to keep my Exposure Six Pack charged, then recharge my Garmin 800 via the Exposure's Smart Port at night.
I know it will depend on how much day or night riding I do, and therefore how much charge is left in the Exposure, but are there any obvious flaws in this plan that I have missed as an alternative to buying a proper dynamo light or a dedicated battery?
