I spent a few hours last night looking at various options round here.
45 reps of this http://www.strava.com/segments/2225775 is my current favourite.
Not sure yet about the weather this weekend though.

Did a very quick calculation of what I could bring to mind as the highest climb round here and its roughly 80 repeats. Some how I doubt I'm going to be having a go at that one.

I'm with Stu on this, multiple laps at a 24hr race seems like a sensible and varied proposal in comparison. That or I'm just sour that I'd have to do 5000 repeats of anything around here.

Have to admit I did this the other weekend, someone mentioned it as silly cycling adventure to do about 3 months ago, interested but forgot about it. then about a month or so ago someone mentioned again and feeling a little behind my mates on the silly cycling challenges this summer I decided I'd give it a crack (2 good buds were doing the Haute route Pyrenean and another riding / supporting a group ride from London to Paris for end of the TdF.
anyway did a few practice runs of approx 2000m ascent to see if could possibly be done with my (lack of) fitness in under 24hrs. bought a gomadic garmin battery extender, picked a day and hill (conor pass) and hoped everything would go to (very sketchy) plan. i also thought it would be a good test of 24hr (or so) stamina for the BB200 in October...
if taken purely as 24 reps of a single climb it sounds terminally mind numbing... but with worries about weather, wind direction, cloud and visibility (west Kerry has notoriously variable conditions), and late night test pilots rallying up that hill (circumstances meant I had to start on a sat night) as well as the obvious ones about fitness, injury,kit nutrition etc it suddenly becomes a lot more interesting.
Getting up for a cycle at 11pm in itself was unusual and starting at just before 1am was admittedly a daunting task solo. Thankfully I had distractions like garmin malfunctions, an unfortunate dead rabbit, a great descent, a good buddy who joined me for rep 13-18 and lot of phone chatter including endless debate as to whether I needed 22.25 or 24 x reps to make sure of the altitude gain it all became a great adventure.
Strongly recommended unless of course you're completely confident in your ability to do 200 miles / 9000m ascent in one go in which case it'll be just a long long boring repetitive training session.

Just realised in my above post, I've neglected to count the distance back to the bottom again. So, it isn't 163km but 326km

Just over 10 times up and down Snowdon up Llanberis, but that's a bastard to get a clear ride... Don't think I have the fitness to manage that....

Went for a look up Chew tonight with my boy.
The climb is OK, but there are a gazillion drainage ditches to negotiate on the way back down.
I wondered why the descent times were so slow.
If the weather is shoddy I may consider it at the weekend, if the weather is good, like tonight it'll be swarming with walkers.
