Map of WRT grid refs

Post by benp1 »

I was playing around and have managed to plot a map of the grid refs so you can see where they all are

Go to this website - http://www.hamstermap.com/quickmap.php

Then copy and paste the following into the box on the bottom left (deleting anything already in there)

52.56433504 -3.656008005
52.562701 -3.665493
52.531005 -3.6171164
52.467593 -3.6515943
52.439176 -3.5593169
52.481041 -3.5887764
52.5548 -3.651918
52.441835 -3.4196406
52.330705 -3.3896629
52.379293 -3.2237046
52.397687 -3.269776
52.391247 -3.3636425
52.467981 -3.2541334
52.483308 -3.1617953
52.491093 -2.9985143
52.453458 -3.1801401
52.425623 -2.9793861
52.367948 -2.9957345
52.395882 -3.0904222
52.270981 -3.0829573
52.564478 -3.6670357

Then hit 'regenerate'

Voila

The starting point is the dot on the right of the cluster of three in the far top left of the dots

Sorry if you've done something similar already

This is a thread that I put up a few years back. I'd like to do the same again for 2019

I need to paste I the grid refs for this year but am on my phone so hard to sort it easily. Does anyone have this already for 2019 by any chance?

Need to look at a route and find this a good way of getting the shape of it

nooooo, don't bung em up Here til afterwards, doh! We'll have every [wo]man and their dog descending on us, and the BP groupies will be chasing us across hill and dale! Then again, it may have the opposite effect - any sensible person will be grateful for knowing where the smell is coming from so they can give the area a wide berth  .

Nothing to do with me being 1500miles away but that doesn't usually stop me.
I totally agree with Reg, coming from a Trailquest MBO background I think publicising the grid refs is not in the spirit of the event. I know it's non competitive (yeh right) but all the same, there has to be a reason to commit to enter the event and drag yourself out of bed on what may be sub standard weather. If I was Stu, I'd pull this thread.

If it were the BB200 I'd pull it in an instant but it's the WRT, so is really no more than a list of seemingly random grid references that anyone with 3 darts could generate :-bd

You've mentioned the "3 darts " method before, is this more reliable than the "3 arrows" method?

Big arrows tend to just rip the maps apart Ray although they may explain the GR in the Irish sea

Changed my mind now - definitely leave them up, because the thought of "BP groupies" finding out is giving me something to look forward to as well as the bogs, sheepshit, just-closed pubs, etc etc  . Question now is, what does a "BP groupie" look like, so I can recognise one when they turn up unannounced in the middle of the night asking to share my ditch....

And "3 darts"??? Here was me thinking Stu pored over maps by candlelight far into the winter night to bring us pointers to locations of great import and fascination. <deflated>

They usually introduce themselves with the first few words of a famous Beach Boys hit Reg....
We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

Wellies, multi-coloured hand knitted and died jumper, grubby waterproof overcoat, unkempt hair, wild eyes and smile, rucksack containing flask of tea, bottle of whiskey and fruit-cake.

I've just removed the link.

The thought of bikepacking groupies and event blaggers descending on mid-Wales on a bank holiday fills me with terror.

I suppose I should come up with some sort of route sooner rather than later. This'll be helpful, cheers.
