While we clearly don't look like we can be trusted with metal implements they are in fact 'normal' steel cutlery. It's just the pizza reflected. Could have claimed we carved them in the wild a la Ray Mears.....

Is there no centralised tracking site/page for everyone?

Go get 'em!

And there off.
Of the 3 spots above Ian takes a flyer and is the first onto the frozen lake.
If it's not frozen he's taking a swim

What are the gradients on the route? Obviously the lakes are flat - I hope.

I recall Ian saying it was pretty flat.

A check on Strava (yes I know) doesn't show many segments in that area though it looks like there are one or two hills. With some (several?) people chosing singlespeed I suspected it might be relatively gentle terrain, well apart from the snow and the cold (though it's currently -2C).

The route is 150km but less than 1000m of climbing so not a massive amount of climbing.

Someone has posted a video of the start in the comments. You can see the bear on Ian's Jersey number 29 close to the start.

now I'm confused by the Spots - Are they all on the same course?
Is it just me or do the spot trackers show different courses??

I'm back!
My winners trophy is a a Sami/Lap hunting knife. Good job Stu didn't hand those out at the end of the '14 BB200

As you'll have spotted my event goes East at the end of the lake. Just before the start of that lake is a stretch of Type 2/3 trail I think was specially shipped in from Wales. There was a fun walk/push/carry through dense trees where I passed Paul E.

The bit I thought would be least grief was the return trip on the river. A subtle headwind put paid to that. Good luck to the guys doing the 150 as that final drag back will be err, fun.

While there wasnt a lot of climbing some of it is pretty steep and of course covered in snow. The West-East section 'top quarter' of the ride was great. I had the trails all to myself and the snow was perfect.

Right off to knock the remaining snow off the bike in the bathroom and get it boxed up for tomorrows flight. Hope to grab some food and pop back to the finish and see the others.

If you get the opportunity to come here make sure you take it!
