I was pretty impressed by this homemade saddlebag. Not exactly UL bivi stuff, but nice anyway.

Worth scrolling down to look at the pattern they used too.

I love it, but a large piece of me says, why not just buy a carradice?
As it is an exact replica. Carradice's are ace.

Because making your own stuff and developing your own skills can be fun and satisfying and a reward in itself. Otherwise, why would anyone bake their own cakes, grown their own veg, or build their own bikes?

Fair point well made, but I'd not make an identical copy, I'd go for a refined design. As I do when baking a cake, that for me is where the beauty lies.
