I have a .gpx track that includes dozens of short tracks around the Pentland Hills.

Is there an option th 'display all on map'? It is a faff having to go into each track in turn and click 'show on map' and so I wanted to show them all in a oner

Not sure about the specifics of the Dakota but I have been looking into displaying more than one route at a time generally and the amount of online mapping tools that seem to find this a problem (as in they don't have the feature but it has been requested a long time ago) I wonder if its actually a more significant challange than it might appear on the surface.

If you use Google Earth you can display more than on at time on there but that's the only "viewer" I'm aware of that can.

Yeah, I use google earth for this at home.

The Dakota 20 can display multiple tracks at once - one just needs to go into each track individually and press 'show on map' for each. I was just being lazy and wondering if there was a way around having to do this dozens of times, once for each track.

The Dakota 20 is great for the money BTW

You need to create your own map of the area that you can then load as a custom map on the Dakota. I've done this with the 7 Stanes map of Glentress (and others). It's a wee bit of faff but works well enough.

FWIW, I have a Google earth map of many Pentlands tracks you might want to take a look at. You can get to it via the Routes section on my blog.

I was using you map that I had tweaked. Thanks!

Have you managed to load your kmz map to your Garmin's custom maps? I can't get it to be recognised. Hmph

Aye - it needs to be an "image overlay". I'll have a go at creating one later and let you know how it goes.

Today I resurrected my old Dakota, tried to add a kmz file to Custom Maps, and failed.

I thought I'd post on here for any help, and then found my post from 2013 about having the same unresolved problem then.

Does anyone know how to get a kmz file onto a garmin that doesn't involve me launching it at the wall? :-bd
