Show your support - Well done all.

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

Many of you will already be aware of the accident at this weekends BB 200, those who don't can find about about it in a post made by 'Paul' this afternoon:http://bearbonesbikepacking.co.uk/phpBB ... f=7&t=2651

Anyway, I think a 'forum whip round' is in order. Neil will be off his feet for quite a few weeks and maybe months and I think a show of support would be a great gesture. If anyone feels that they'd like to contribute something, money can be put into the virtual hat by sending it via paypal to stuart@forestfreeride.co.uk

It could have happened to anyone of us out there!

Chaps and chapelles,

I've never met any of you but I've found this website and the community of people who inhabit it to be incredibly engaging and hugely helpful. And just plain friendly. Which counts.

Neil, good luck in your recovery. I hope the money raised here helps, even if only to raise your spirits and maybe to fix your bike, and let's hope you (and me maybe) will make it back to the BB200 next year.

It will take a few days but I'd like to contribute. Please leave it open until the weekend. It really is a shame and so easily could have been anyone. First time I've met anyone on here was this weekend. I said I'd to the misses I wish there was a bit more pre or post social as everyone seemed genuine and friendly.

Oooh the WRT's the place for that kind of carry on ... in all honesty I was struggling to put more than 3 words together when I got back, although some might say that's not unusual.

Don't worry, I won't be calling a stop to donations anytime before weekend and a big, ta very much to everyone who's sent something over tonight ;)

Thank you to everyone for their kind and supportive comments and donations. Neil, despite his hard exterior will be touched. It says something about the camaraderie of cyclists (in the main), especially those riders who participate in such events. Again, thank you for all your support

Pp sent. If his spirits are up to it, would a free entry for a next year event be a good idea at part of a gift. A way to encourage getting back on saddle (pun intended). Though I expect for now he is solely thinking about getting through each day.

The special hospital he went is superb. A climbing friend went there after a proper fall. Now climbing.

Don't worry, if Neil wants to enter next year his entry will be taken care of ;)

Paul again, everyone's generosity and best wishes have been relayed to Neil. He doesn't have a stable signal or connection to be able to read all the goodwill messages, but is aware of them all. He's humbled and passes on his thanks, he will respond as soon as he is able. At present he still awaits an MRI scan, I'm still awaiting news as to what level of immobilisation he is to be expect during his recovery. He's happier being at the specialist unit and remains focussed on recovery as the No 1 priority. His wife and daughter have been down twice to visit / stay which he's enjoyed.
Thanks for the support
