Stuart - What is the name of the campsite near you and phone no if you have it? My C&CC book only has the one nearer to Llanbrynmair in it.

(I think you may have already posted it but I can't find it now. Sorry if that is the case)

Looks like there's going to be quite a few of us at that site. I hope to arrive about 4 or 5pm to give me time to put the tent up in the light. Be nice to have a few people to talk to.

Wynnstay Arms in Llanbrynmair would be nearest but a drive (25 mins) into Llanidloes may provide better results.

Thanks, I might take my chances with Wynnstay Arms, I will have had enough of driving by then !!

Info added above, I'll probably be cooking myself a big pan of pasta rather than venturing far for food.

Shall I bring my barbecue and some charcoal? Could be good if it's a dry night!

Best of luck to all of you taking part at the weekend.. Disappointed not to be there this year but I've had to back off my riding due to what I hope is a temporary swing in the work/ride balance! (Working abroad during the week- we'll Scotland but it works for me!)
Have fun.. And let's hope Mr sunshine beams and helps to cultivate some sharp tan lines to carry you through winter! Enjoy!

What are your food strategies? Is anyone calculating calories or is it carry as much as fits in your bag?

My current shopping list looks like this:

2 malt loaf, 4 pork pies, 1 cheese and jam sandwich, a slab of homemade flapjack, 4 Eccles cakes, dark choc, light choc, trail mix, and jelly babies..

Think that should see me through.

I think you're a bit light on the jam sarnies myself - there can never be enough jam sarnies to satisfy a man!

So far:

bag of dry roasted peanuts
bag of cashews
4 energy gels
2 malt loaves
2 mule bars
8 snickers bars
bag of sour worm sweets
High 5 tablets to add to water
Will make multiple jam sandwiches
At least 2 boil-in-bag meals for something hot

Reckon my bag will be a bit heavy with all the grub, but I will lose the ability to cope if it starts to go wrong if I don't keep fuelled up...

Currently:
bag of cashews
tray of home cooked flapjack
a bunch of small bags of haribo
4 bananas
2 for goodness shakes
probs something like 3-4 bottles worth of energy drink powder (carb and electrolyte).
3 litre camel back for water

I'm staying in new town on the Friday and living it up in a B&B. I'm planning on getting a large pizza and saving a few slices of that to take as well. 8-)

Going to Sainsburys tomorrow and will pick up whatever I see there, some sort of cake thing I reckon. Might make a couple of croissant sandwiches too.

Was planning on stopping at the black lion for dinner and a quick stop at that cafe in the woods for a large slice of cake. Pub stop will depend on time though.

Will arrive mid afternoon in a red T5 campervan. May cook indoors.

Bryan will be in The Star Inn at Dylife and I said I may go over there early doors for a peppermint tea or something.

Not decided on food* yet but need to pop along to Asda.

* I did buy a packet of syrup waffles but I am already half way through them....

Have just unpacked my bike and laid everything out on the floor. Been really brutal, plus calculated calories I was carrying. 1.2 kg lighter now...

Following a trip to the post office I've returned and converted to tubeless ... there's a lot of hedge brushing going on out there ;)
