Just a thought Stu.....

Is the .GPX you sent the "correct" rotation or will I need the Garmin to run it in reverse?

Potential to be a bit embarrassing....

If it's called 'something 13' then it should be correct, ie clockwise BUT everyone entered will get a gpx file a couple of weeks before the start. I'd use that one rather than any other that's floating about ;)

Raises hand as a first timer and this is my first post here. :)

I'm aiming at sub 24hours but if I don't make it then it's something to improve on next time.

Not near, but I usually stay in Oswestry or Shrewsbury Travelodge before BB events for about £20 a night

(always book in for three even if solo so you get more coffee sachets for the ride ;) )

Ok, I'm pretty much on the verge of signing up. Just the accommodation before and after to work out (Think I have my bike and nav setup almost sorted, need to get a bit more fitness but I reckon I'll have enough in time (not forgetting the mental strength side of things.).
Can we sleep in the field by the event start/finish or is the campsite you linked to above the closest place Stu?

You're welcome to spend as long as you like in the parking field after you finish ... but not before, sorry. ;) Dolgadfan is about the closest at 2 miles away.

I believe that someone from Outdoor Fitness magazine will be riding ... so you'd all best put your best togs on. ;)

I inadvertently bought the same North Face combo that Rob Deane wore on their cover once. I'd best dig it out. ;)

Will they be able to tell me how to "get ripped abs in just 30 mins!" or something. ;-)

Stuart - are you going to publish an entry list? or should we just raise our hands on this thread and say I?

Are Outdoor Fitness there to participate or just cover the event?

What are your plans for water on the route?

I know of a few places where I could fill up but there's a few big gaps to cover. I'll happily fill up from streams higher up but not lower and don't want to carry a filter.

I will let the Cafe at Coed Trallwm know the event is on, so water there is a possibility. There is a tap at the NE corner of Ty Cornell Hostel. There's another tap at the loos at the last Reservoir put of Elan Valley before the climb over the Roman Camp, but don't know if these get locked at night.

I was thinking there will be a tap at cwmystwyth campsite as well.

Trying to remember if there was anything at nant Rhys.

Nothing at Nant ... but the river's okay.

There's the odd tap available if you look on houses and farmyards, just be sensitive if it's the middle of the night! I filled up in a peaty stream last year, then emptied it all as soon as I found a tap. There's the odd reservoir as well that should have something resembling drinking water as well.

And hopefully it's Steph from Outdoor Fitness, but she'd probably bring her other half.

Or please tell me it's Ellie Harrison (but I don't think she writes for Outdoor Fitness - but here's hoping!)

What percentage of those riding normally are going for the under 24 hour time and those who will be single night bivi'ing and saying sod it to the racing?

If I were to come and play I wouldn't want to feel pressured into being the only one who overnights it out in the wild.

I think last year out of the 40 that entered

25% bailed
50% stayed out overnight
25% non stop

Something along that theme. Anyone 'average' like myself would be spending the night out somewhere.

The thing I find interesting is the very small number of 'Blue' badges that get awarded.

Sub 24hr - Black - Finish by 10.00 am Sunday
Sub 28hr - Blue - Finish by 2.00 pm Sunday
Finish - Green - Sometime

There always seems to be a good number of riders returning having just missed the 2.00pm blue cut-off.

Anyway, there's no pressure at all John ... aside from what you place on yourself.

I'll be planning to get it done in one go, although this will clearly entail getting back at some ungodly hour.

Is it acceptable to stay somewhere else the night before (b&b/camp) and then put up a small one man tent (before the start) in the car park field to crawl into and die when I get back from the ride?
