Now we're deffo hipster - bikepacking with Waitrose!!

Post by RIP »

A, er, friend, yes that's it a friend, erm, noticed this article in this week's Waitrose 'newspaper'.

I was fairly OK with it.... "nimble, spontaneous philosophy".... "pretty much any bike"... "more minimalist"...etc. Until: "B&B's aren't cheating"... "bungee cords"... and a slight smell of 'touring really' .

Cue our usual 'elitist' discussions  .

Yeah, not convinced about bungees been the actual greatest thing you can take bikepacking - I'm thinking maybe a sleeping bag or summat to eat and drink might ultimately prove more useful and rewarding?

BTW - does an inclusion in the Waitrose magazine make us 'hipster' or just middle aged, middle class, middle England and shouldn't we be carrying sun dried tomatoes and Feta?

Aren’t most frequent forum users here middle aged…?

Pre covid the free coffee in the doorway was a bikepackers dream but not sure if they offer it now… (or at least free with a purchase)

Is the next winter event going to be a Waitrose version of SparWars?

Ha ha, how's this for being hipster? I was too embarrassed to post this from my July BAM... rocking the peasant woman look with my mosquito net whilst supping a gin and tonic on top of a hill...

Never be embarrassed of that V, here's Dee after I said, 'let's go bikepacking in Ireland, it'll be fun' ... turns out I was wrong.

It would probably have helped if you'd have let her bring her bike

It's easy to look at people wearing head nets and think "what an idiot".... until you've experienced midges....
