Shame you can't get fly and footprint separately

Re: AK tarpstar
I'm surprised it's taken them this long really.
Shame there isn't an option for a half inner. I always think mids make great 1 person bad weather shelters set up that way as they provide a massive living area. Main problem with a full inner is that you can't open the door without getting water inside the inner or at least on it.

Brain wonders if this would be eligible for the OMM....lots of space, high headroom, groundsheet is sewn into bugnet. Hmmm... intrigued.

Re: AK tarpstar
I reckon Luxe might have got the pyramid configuration about bang on with their Mini Peak XL.

Re: AK tarpstar
I wonder if they'll do a Tarpstar 1, though a half inner might be the best of both worlds on a longer trip. That said, the mini peak xl weighs the same as my claustrophobic one man tent.
Re: AK tarpstar
Agreeing with Stu, half inner would be much better in the wet.
I have an MLD spinnaker supermid and it's huge. Have slept two adults, dog and kit inside in comfort, and also had three blokes sitting, drinking and playing cards out of the wind and rain.
But when that door opens, all the rain goes down into the open space

Yeah, I've found a 2 man tent with a half inner is best for solo camping. Somewhere to leave wet things/change/put boots on off etc without getting the inner wet or dirty

Is it just me who thinks that..... when looking at the last 2 photos with people in the shot does this look like your head and feet will be touching the tents outer when you lay down on anything thicker than a waffer, that is if you don't sleep diagonally twisting around the centre pole?

My thoughts exactly. True of all the other brands using this design too though.JohnClimber wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 10:38 pm Is it just me who thinks that..... when looking at the last 2 photos with people in the shot does this look like your head and feet will be touching the tents outer when you lay down on anything thicker than a waffer, that is if you don't sleep diagonally twisting around the centre pole?

Re: AK tarpstar
I think the surprise for me is that AK have come in fairly late in the day with what is really just a generic Chinese shelter. I'm not really seeing any touches or details that make it better / different / whatever from the hundreds listed on Aliexpress. That said, they'll likely sell loads.

Re: AK tarpstar
Is it me or is the product page a bit sparse on the details and dimensions of it? Just gives a L x W x H.
Whereas this sort of info tells you the numbers you might need to know (e.g. size of tarp and usable size of inner tent):
Mleh, Alpkit innit

Re: AK tarpstar
The wide opening front door will offer zero protection getting in and out if its raining whatsoever too
Re: AK tarpstar
Going from facebook, a half inner is in the works.

Re: AK tarpstar
It's not even a very good copy of the original (and best) MLD Trailstar.

Maybe the name similarity is just handy for extra free Google hits

Very different from a TS - I'm not sure it's meant to be similar. More one of these but scaled downIt's not even a very good copy of the original (and best) MLD Trailstar.
