This thread is a goldmine for my Wildcat bikepacking frame R&D.

(so far I've got Pinion, with an IGH, beltdrive AND chain, replaceable sliding dropouts that also rock and an eccentric BB. Geometry to work with drop bars and flat bars (maybe at the same time), steel tubing with a carbon wrap and steel, rigid, carbon, suspension forks. 2,756 bosses and clearance for all of teh tyres.)

Pretty sure Bicyclepubes has already done this.

Thanks, great. So that's just plain matte black but blue with magenta accents.

(think we might ship it raw with a box of crayons)

I admit I did say e-Brompton back on the first page.

But I've changed my mind.

Instead, I'd like a.... Brompton.

https://www.brompton.com/t-line

If I phoned home maybe I could even have an e-T-Brompton....

I’ve just chucked a drawing in the pot for what I want - I was going to write need but there is no need, it’s all want.

I loosely drew up the smokestone mr harry on the back of finishing gbduro on the bowti fatbike, it’s aim was to cover all the shortcomings of the bow Ti as a bikepacking bike.

Might even get it in time for bb200/300 abuse.. who knows!

I'm thinking very hard about revamping my Tour Divide bike. Its a 2014 Planet X Dirty Harry - light carbon hardtail in matt Black. Great bike but not inspiring to look at. Thinking of a complete rub down and repaint in a purple metal flake. It won't be hard-wearing, and probably not great for framebags etc, but it will give me the chance to really tidy it up and get it back to where it once was.

I can't really justify a new bike, but a new road bike to replace my ageing Ribble would be a SWorks Tarmac or Cervelo. But I'd have to buy it as frame only and build it up to my spec.....

How about 2k clear over the top Steve. It's surprisingly tough.

I think that'll work Stu, just wasn't too impressed with the 2k paint I used on a steel frame I painted - not at all durable, but I think I put it on too thickly.

I'll try thinner coats....

I've found you have to ignore the 'it'll be hard enough to polish off in 24 hours' and ideally give it a couple of weeks.

benp1 wrote: Thu Jun 30, 2022 9:19 pm Interesting question this, I don’t actually have an answer

There’s nothing I really want or fancy right now. I like the idea of having a singlespeed again but wouldn’t actually use it much

Happy with my current selection of bikes.

Actually, I like the look of the new all Ti Brompton, don’t need it, but I like the idea of having a lighter bike to carry around. Definitely not a dream bike though
I'm a bit worried we agree, Reg!

I love Ti bikes and haven't had one before. Given how often I use my brompton and how often it gets carried, I actually reckon a Ti one would be useful

Ah sorry Ben, I didn't spot you'd already bagged it! Maybe we could share one  .

They don't do one with a telescopic seat post and higher bars for now, which I need, so you can let me know how you get on with this current version :-bd

Would mean getting rid of my current one, which I'm quite fond of though

Love mine - 1999 vintage, so slightly shorter "top" tube. Replaced chain/sprocket recently. Nightmare getting them. Rutland did the swap (£10 bargain!) but I had to order the bits myself from brilliantbikes.

(Ok, ok, finished now, Ben and I'll just slope off and skulk in our own separate Brompton Love-In thread....) ((I can see Pickers/Nick's BromWRT being a quad effort next year rather than just a duo.....))

If it’s a folder, why not a self-charging titanium e-folder?

https://en.vello.bike/

They can’t match that new Ti Brompton in terms of weight but 14kg for a folding ebike is pretty good and the fold on them is IMO even better than Brommies. Heresy I know but if I’m ever get my tax return through I think I know where it’s going.

I’m sure they do you a SS which would be sub 9kg if the 10kg Ti Speedster version is anything to go by
I'm just going outside ...

so i am going to say a big tough ebike that i cant ride all day on.

if any xl riders fancy my dream bike (rohloff ti fargo) give me a shout.
I feel your pain Tony,my dream bike is in my front room, admittedly it’s not a Ti Fargo but that’s a moot point I can’t ride further than the shops. I’d advise spending your money on that dream trip rather than a dream bike. A bike is just metal stuff, memories last longer (Ti excepting)
