Thanks for the support everyone- this one was a bit of an epic. Last night Ana, Colin and I were sat in Denny's in Silver City eating and looking at the weather, which looked good, and we decided to go for it. I'd already done 150 miles to Silver City, so another 124 to Antelope Wells seemed optimistic, but with lots of food and a positive mindset we set off. 9 hours later we'd done the 124 miles, including around 40 miles of gravel track. Ana stormed off on a 65 mile time trial, and finished first. I came in about 5 mins later and Colin 10-15 mins after me.
Around 271 miles, 30 hours and a lot of climbing, mud and weather..

Now had a beer and a shower so all good.

Yep, amazing indeed. What a way to finish. 271 miles... 436 km after about 3855 km in less than 18 days, 163 km/d...

#bemoresteve
I'll take some inspiration from that.

You look like a normal bloke but you are far from normal. Thanks for doing something magnificent and inspiring me to do something out of my comfort zone too one day.

Steve Whitacker- one of the white dots - has crashed on Marshall Pass and is out with a suspected broken collar bone. Hope he's ok and can get back to the UK.

Stephen Petty, the chap with the good "as it happens" YouTube videos is on the move again after a few days stop in Pinedale. Thought me might have scratched, so great he is moving again, and great he's keeping going, as he's obviously already had a couple of major issues requiring him to stop for a few days each time!

Congrats on a stellar ride Steve. I'll say this now you've finished, extra kudos for getting it done on a PX Dirty Harry. I worked for PX during the brief period that they sold the Dirty Harry alongside the Lurcher and frames like the 456, Titus Fireline etc and the DH was the most delicate we worked with. Yes they were silly light but some tube sections were paper thin and the tolerances on bottom bracket, head tube and seat tube left a lot to be desired as well as cable guides fixed with chewing gum. You must have one of the last currently in regular use and it's a testament to your careful riding, most didn't survive 10 months never mind 10 years. Hope you put it somewhere safe when you get home

This DH has been great. Many many miles across difficult terrain. I think I had one of the last, and I do wonder whether I had a copy rather than an actual DH.

I did reinforce the chainsaw after a chainsuck incident, but I think this was overkill. Plus it is wrapped in helitape but I don't think this is structural........

I am wondering whether to retire it now - its done well for the last 8 years, but then I also think a repaint would make it a new bike. I just can't justify a new bike when this one works so well!
