My dad is well into his 70’s and has a Brompton. Showed him this thread and he was quite inspired by your efforts - I am watching what he does next with great interest

'applause'

I've had half a mind to do something like this with my Brompton (S2 with a smaller front ring) for ages. Made a simple adapter for a low mount rear rackpack frame that works with the fold. The price of trains and the suitability of my other bikes means I've not done it yet but they're poor excuses and I think write up this shows what I'm really missing - some other fool to do it with

Brilliant.

As well as the Brommies, it sounds like a great snack/food based adventure, love it. :-bd

After the glittering awards ceremony that preceded the start, during which we were given beer for the most inappropriate bikes ever seen at the WRT (thanks Stu!)
Hmm, there's a challenge there somehow...

Enjoyed the, I have a Brommie for local stuff but never really considered it for bike packing other than a very local one. You have given me ideas, as if I didn't have enough. Not sure mid Wales would come into it though!

I dunno Reg, Sean’s itinerary looked highly feasible!
Not been to the IoW in nearly 50 years either so maybe due a visit!

It's not changed much

My suggestion is the flat way between those points, it follows the routes of the old railways.

There's a line of Downs runs east to west (or west to east going the other way  ) across the center of the Island with a gap at Newport in the centre. Unless your route goes through the gap, like the railways did, you'd have to go over the downs. There's plenty of hills available but my suggested route was deliberately Brompton friendly as it stays north of the line of the downs.

I'm not sure how many miles were done but I believe there were pubs and a good time was had.

Oh, I chatted to him when he finished. Might have been something like 70KM, if I remember correctly. Said he worked for Brompton!

Would’ve liked to have met him, any idea who he is on here?

I don't think he's here Rich but I'll try and (a) remember what he's called and (b) find some details.
