Anyone else following this year's spectacle?

Karel Sabbe and John Kelly at the front and Jasmine Paris is up there.

No but I’m addicted to the subsequent films. Hopefully they’ll be one this year

This explains why I dreamt that I was on an ultrarun in my sleep just now. Been reading an (ultra)running book and listening to some podcast by a running coach called Fitzgerald. But that doesn't explain the dream as I'm only up to 5k runs in my journey just yet.

I saw this thread after morning prayers and then went back to sleep. The dream was me stuffed in a shop with a few other runners deciding what carbs were available and then met some other runners who I'd encouraged the months before (in my head, in my dream). Think I was just past the marathon distance, it was off road and I've not sustained any overuse injuries.

Dreamy rides and runs. They're ace. Thanks Rich

I saw on the Inov8 FB page that Jasmin took 9 hr 23 min to run the first loop. Given it's meant to be 20 miles (but most think a loop is more like 25 miles) then that shows how hard it is :o

It's the utter state of their legs that gets me, all the cuts and bruises which shows this is much more than just running and elevation. Steve Large needs repeated punching in the goolies for 6 hours for suggesting a bike version.

Variation on a theme, and more like that one where you run around a city block. Someone did something similar with open water swimming, so 1,500m every hour, on the hour, in a lake in the Rockies or something. Bonkers.

A bike one would be entertaining, but what distance...?
There are theories at the bottom of my jargon.

I believe Stuart Ryder who does the YD300 was talking about a bike version (not as drastic in terms of terrain though) for this year. Looks like it's not happening though.

Going slightly OT but if you’re a fan of John Kelly, then FKT (fastest known time) on prime is worth a watch

Yay, Jasmin Paris completed the fun run,
and in other news,
"After seeking help from a trash can that he thought was a person, as well as from some passing motorists, Karel was given a ride back to camp by the Morgan County Sheriff. #BM100"

RE bikes. I've a 10km loop in the forest here that I always thought could be used for such a thing. Entirely off-road and self-contained.

The 2022 Barkley Marathons is over. There are no finishers. #BM100. So Twitter says

Current confirmed entrants:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... V/pubhtml#

Possible that two runners are going to be DQ'd for dropping rubbish at the startline - it's in a national park, and access is already very tenuous for the event. Hence max 40 "runners" per year.

Seems fair. I wonder if they'll still be allowed to run and then be told later, just for maximum punishment?
