First Friday of 2022

Target 1 - 27th March, 95kg
Target 2 - 24th June, 92kg

Re-start (2021) 101kg
31st Dec 99.6kg

Could do with a bit of a boost really, just been on a little 3 day trip which I hoped would help, but I ate a LOT of food :-bd
Still, going the right way

31/12/2021:. 113.9kg
7/1/2022:. 113.9kg

Just shy of 11 hours exercise between bike, hike and swim so I guess the more intuitive eating isn't really working

A little 'backed up' so will re-weigh tomorrow, but I obviously need to track on MFP properly to get this going.

OK, let's give this a go again.

7/1/21 - 75.4kg

Target? Not sure. Probably 72 kg but might be affected by my attempt to build some upper body strength. As above, I might have to consider something like waist measurement too.

103.6kg today. A slow start, but in the right direction.

Target weight 77kg

7/1/2022 : 84.4kg

Really need to do this as the umbilical hernia can only go two ways (ie. positively or negatively). One of which would not be good

07/01/22: 70.9kg
-------------
Target: 62kg by 10/06/21. 14% bodyfat or lower.
-------------

I get the feeling I'm really going to struggle this year. Still not able to do any significant amount of training / riding on the bike and it's been nearly 6 months since I regularly weight trained.

First things first, get my intermittent fasting on point again (now doing 18/6) and switch to only drinking when there's some sort of an event (birthday, night out etc). Basically no just randomly drinking at home. Hopefully that'll help sort out some of the recent depression too.

Scotroutes, I wouldn't worry too much about accounting for the extra muscle. Even if you were to go full-on into gym/bodybuilding lifting 4 times a week and totally bursting yourself along with massively changing your diet to eating chicken and eggs and protein shakes, you'd be lucky to put on 2kg of lean mass in a year. It's taken me 2 years to add 3kg of muscle mass and that's taken me changing diet, eating ridiculous amounts of protein and working with a gym trainer every week as well as being in there 4 times a week.

You will get stronger, you'll look a lot better and your body composition will be biased more towards muscle which will increase your daily maintenance calorie requirement (meaning you'll stay leaner if you eat the same amount of food) - but you'll probably not put on much extra "weight".

Unless he's on the juice of course, then he could get a chunk more and with a bunch less effort!

Interestingly, steroids don't mean you can put in less effort - more that they mean you recover faster so can do 5 workouts a week instead of 4. You actually have to work harder!

True re. muscle gain, but if you're anything like me you can register a good bit more lot just from inflammation. Not fat or muscle tissue as such but still records as weight. Water/glycogen inc.water/blood.

My thighs in particular will get visibly inflammed after tough/long rides and upper body did when I could lift, shot wrists have put pay to any heavy lifting. But I have issues so maybe not so noticeable with others.

Only partly true.

Short version, it's possible to gain more muscle size with steroids and no exercise than it is as a natural lifter and training. Obviously this isn't replicated with actual lifting capacity because, well, practice makes perfect! Still get free gains though.

(and that's just testosterone... there are far more impressive / dangerous options out there)

Ah ok, I've never considered it that way as I just lift weights for strength - the muscle mass is a bonus!

Weigh-in after run this morning. Never really trust our scales fully. Pre-shower 78kg. Post shower 77.1kg. What is that all about? The lower weight seems right considering this weeks efforts, so I'm going with that unless someone can persuade me otherwise.

900g of mud stuck to your legs?

Your shower absorbs fat... this needs scientific investigation!

I could do with one too. Did my BIA scales earlier and the fat percentage number was not good.

Well it was wet and muddy this morning with the dog giving me one of those 'WTF!' moments half way round the trail. Told him not to be soft. Mind you, I did have to wring him out at the end.

I'd say the reason is more boring and that the scales kind of re-set themselves. Maybe they're shocked at my nearly nude lard-ass standing on them. It then gets used to it. You'd all be the same.

tbh I sometimes wonder if my scales are correct and working. It's hard to believe that a week later they register exactly the same weight down to the nearest 100g! Surely the probability of it being that is quite low?

94.9kg 3/1/22
93.2kg 9/1/22

Reckon I could've dropped a full 2 kilos if it wasn't for Pleasant Valley Sunday, champagne, wine, cheese, chorizo and chocolate but happy with week one.

81.4kg as at 10/10/22

Pleased with that given I’ve still been boozing a bit and have only done an hour on Zwift and several dog walks.

I think I've found a power level I can train at without dying during / not being able to do anything the next day. It's a country mile over what I should be training at, but I guess something is better than nothing.

Have finished all my cheese too, so that's a win!
