I'm not weighing myself at all at the minute.

Eating less crap, not drinking much, exercising when possible.

I'll look at what had transpired in a couple of weeks...

I'm not logging my food at the moment just trying to not eat crap and feel a touch of hunger rather than the groan of too much/junk,but weigh in to see if that's working.

I'm also trying to reduce the amount of 'exercise' for the sake of it and do mainly exercise for a purpose. Just fitted pannier rack to my poor bike for shopping runs (about 30km round trip to the super market, 6.5km round trip to the village shop).

Where as I'd have been looking to do specific long rides for the sake of doing rides even though I was knackered, which puts me in a downward mood and food spiral. This way I can hopefully get enough exercise in that's also useful instead of just wearing myself out and being to knackered to do family/household stuff, and have energy for a weekly leisure ride or walk.

Lunch of chicken wraps and then off to the library and Aldi :-bd

Very, very late into this thread this year but prompted to stop lurking today as I hit a milestone that I am quite pleased about.

I've been putting on weight for about five years and not really been bothered. But there was a photo of me with my kids on New Years Eve that had me realise how far I'd let myself go. I got on the scales next morning and was 115.8kg. My fighting weight is 95kg, which I was about 5 years ago and wish to be again.

So I got a personal trainer who I see once a week and keeps me honest and accountable. I have literally halved my calories, which actually wasn't hard because I'm still eating 2000-2500cal a day. No crisps or biscuits. I've cut my boozing to virtually zero and don't miss it one jot. I exercise a lot more, especially using the bike for local trips and shopping. Last month I even joined a gym and have been getting there twice a week.

I've been weighing myself once a month since January and taking a photo of the scales. And this morning I was 105.4kg.

10kg down. 10 to go. I'm still a fat bastard and not calling victory yet, so will report back in December.

I know when I hit 100kg not sooo long ago I felt massively better, and looked it. 4 years ago last month before my knee replacement I was 90kg, which might seem a lot too some for a big framed bear with size 13 feet I was in great shape and loving it. Want to be there again!

Back to it, the grind never ends for long. Being able to add in 500kcal or so a day now (as no struggle for next target) will make a ton of difference to what I'm able to eat.

Just need to make sure I don't add in alcohol calories, as that always goes sideways.

Pleased with that. Made a real effort whilst away not to treat it like a holiday (it wasn't), so was very careful with my eating / drinking. I think in reality I may have actually lost a bit as I usually put on a kg or so when I fly (I assume from swelling).

So it turns out I have a "bone marrow oedema" in my left shoulder, caused by impact / trauma. So, what I thought was muscular and caused by over exertion at the gym, is actually skeletal and, most likely, caused by falling off my bike a couple of months ago, due to forgetting to unclip when coming to a stop.
Therefore the quack says I can go back to the gym and just manage any soreness with ibuprofen- Good times.

Apparently, I'm 74.6kg today after being close to getting under 73kg a few weeks ago. Disappointing. One of the main issues is that I have hurt my Achilles and haven't run for 2 weeks. I've had a few trips on the bike and still doing some exercises but it's been really sore and I'm trying to rest it and work up to running soon. I've a short holiday in a weeks time, so have a couple of weeks to hope it heels enough. I'm pissed it's happened and think I can forget the weight loss for a while.

Sadly not, it's the difficulty of going from being really good, to being slightly bad. For most people it would barely register as a big weekend.

Not uncommon for me to put on around a kg a day when I take a break from the diet / training.

Hi-di-ho all,

I'm still not really weighing myself or quantifying things at my end right now (just trying to shift my motivations, attitude and eventually behaviour slowly but hopefully permanently) but.....I am still here reading and following everyone's progress.

Was mighty nice to bump into Dave/FLV in Chamonix last week and have a quick chat :-bd

Once the dust settles on the summer I'll take stock of what's been going on with my weight etc... and until then I'll keep on riding and trying to keep smiling.....
