I would expect this to get well and truly bombed as the land is just open moorland with a path across. Granting it for this area would set a huge precedent so like the early cases (snowie and her who runs stagecoach) will get huge publicity. 'Woodland renewables' is the name of the company requesting the land be removed from access rights I'll be interested to see how they can claim that planting acres of sitka for wood fuel power stations makes a case from excluding the public. Guess where I'm going to take my bike next year! Alladale on the HT route tried this a number of years ago and it got thrown out.

TBH, things like this aren't the problem with access rights up here, its the slow erosion of rights going on away from 'popular' areas in terms of locked gates, 'no access' signs and landowners claiming no knowledge of access rights. I'm getting the distinct impression that the current govt isn't interested as funding to Councils for countryside access management is drying up.
