Highland Trail Race - Good Luck

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

Just wanting to wish all those taking part in the HT400 good luck. Having ridden part of the route I hope the weather gods are kind to you and the rivers shallow ;)

The rivers actually are shallow at the moment. I had to postpone a planned packrafting trip this week :x

Was looking at the names on the tracker, and realise I don't know who some people are from here
Apart from Ian and Mark, who else do I need to keep an eye on?

Aiden
3rd and first Singlespeeder on the 2010 TD and the current record holder for the Cairngorms Loop. Wouldn't be surprised if he posted a sub 3 day time.

Alan G and Steve are very fast and know the route. The Pauls are going to be worth watching as well.

Dont know some of the other names, but its a cracking route and hope they all have fun.

Going well approaching St Augustus @8pm Mark and Ian flying. Surprised Paul Errington isn't further up he's very rapid. So who will ride through the first night, guess it doesn't get dark too long up there.

There's certainly some pace being made out there, I'm wondering if a sub 4 day time might come off ?

Wow - that's some spread!

Many much kudos to all the participants.

Anyone know how bad (I'm assuming it's bad) the weather is?

Is it just my link, or has Aidens mark not moved for ages after coming through the Corry Pass.
He was leading But I'm showing that he's not descended to Ft Aug

Marks storming :)

Edit: typical...as soon as I post it refreshes to show Aidens, Phil and Mark together by a wee loch

Wow, some of these guys are flying! I'm guessing conditions will be pretty close to perfect right now. I'd love to be out there....

So the leaders on the home leg. Ian just left Ullapool at 8pm. Amazing pace from the Singlespeed boys in those hills.
Tough day ahead tomorrow, strong headwind and plenty of rain, not so jealous now :(

I'd be gobsmacked if he could given he's got 3 hard days in already and minimal sleep

Quite amazed at how quickly they're moving.

I'm interested to discover what's slowed Mr Goldie, hope it's nothing that'll stop him from finishing.

I know how he feels, not the best terrain to how shagged knees.
