The main problem with Lyme disease for humans is getting a correct diagnosis, not so much treatment. Antibiotics work perfectly well in early stage disease.
Less than 65% of cases present with the bullseye pattern rash, ad the ones that don’t often get missed because the other symptoms are non specific viral symptoms.
I’m not sure how much impact this new treatment will have if it reaches approval, I can’t see a mass treatment of all susceptible mammals happening in the wild.
Moral of the LD story is don’t ignore viral symptoms if you’ve had tick bites and always check for ticks during and after a trip in the boonies. Get them off early (<24hrs) and the chance of transmission even from an infected tick is very low.
If you are going through hell, keep going.
