Don't often hear 'moped' and 'gang' in the same sentence do you?

Can you still get mopeds? I mean proper mopeds not 50cc scooters.

Been a while since we had a decent digression, nice one there Stu.

I would have thought living in the sticks was more dangerous. People could easily just grab the nearest one to hand and beat you round the head with it.

When I was 14 I bought a Puch Maxi for 20 quid, I hacksawed off the exhaust and teared up and down the local footpaths and bridleways. The neighbours must have hated me!

Thought this was about the benefits of riding from your front door...

In the sticks on edge of a relatively posh town but violent armed house robberies have happened locally (v rare oc) and it's the same kind of thing. Risk vs reward for the gangs. The UK continues to create the poverty and gaps plus lack of opportunities that drive this as well as cutting policing right back. It's only going in one direction, only getting worse the way things are in the UK (trying to stay off politics but if it were a dysfunctional company you'd blame the management, I don't see it any differently here).

Seen the govt appeal for ways to stop gangs on e-scooters safely, like a stinger for cars? They put out an appeal for ideas. The eng team at work had a fun design comp for ideas, I though the best one was a rapid friction-setting glue from a gun : ) Wil-e-coyote style.

Lots of folks "out in the sticks" have also been violently assaulted for their bikes.

It's just that their bodies haven't been discovered yet.

Didn't Peter and the Test Tube Babies have something to say about them?

Looks like a ripe candidate for a sting operation - Shiny new high end bike left outside a hip café covered in superglue or summat.

its pretty common in built up areas/big tons cities etc as their ability to take paths and go off road and through narrow gaps means its easy to escape plod - who will follow behind politley [ rather than run them over*] till they find a suitable alley/housing estate /park to escape into.
They are also pretty cheap to buy and easy to steal.

Personally see this as glad i dont live in a massive mega city

* i am not advocating running them over to be clear but the rules of engagment make them the perfect escape vehicle.

[It’s been like that for around 3 years in London, just a matter of time when they see outer towns as easier targets

I bloke I used to ride with when I lived in Ludlow moved to a village in the middle of nowhere near Limoges about 10 years ago. I delivered a Stratocaster guitar to him on one of our first trips to Spain and he was telling me that he'd walked into the village bar shortly after moving and met one of his neighbours, Wreckless Eric.

Ah... the wonderful machete.
Great tool for gardening, clearing paths and chopping cardboard into car-free-life friendly bits.

I'll remind myself to take it along should I go for a ride in a city.

In "news world" a moped is the same as a scooter, these mopeds are probably 500cc Yamaha TMAX's or similar. Whatever, it's stolen scoots ridden by peeps with big machetes that are too young and stupid to be afraid to use them. Basically, if a 14 year old who doesn't understand or care waves an 18 inch machete at you you'd probably give him your bike.
