Missed out on a green badge by 17min and 46 seconds. But to be fair I already had one of them and now I have one of the transparent ones (already applied to frame bag).

Thanks Stu and Dee and everyone else for making it such a lovely (and rock hard for me) event

Wow... how on earth did you manage that Bob... well done

Enjoyable intro to BB world. Shared a few earlier miles/gates and a coffee with Steve (Slarge?) then solo from then onwards. Finished in 14:10 (12:55 moving) rigid stooge 29+ was perfect. Could've done without carrying an extra 10 hours worth of food but better than going hungry.

Great route and a friendly bunch. Cheers
Was me - good to meet you John - I think I stopped to oil my chain, have a bite, then didn't see you again. Cracking ride fella

Driving to work listening to the news this morning reminded me of one of the reasons I enjoy these and other hard rides: for those few hours whatever is happening in the world ceases to matter, just one linear timeline of effort, eating, miles and time.

Good effort. I also had twice as much food as needed....

Me and (another lad) missed it aswell. He was a chap that turned up out of nowhere and had had a rough night. I was second to last til that point. I said the tracks 'this way' so I went and he followed or other way round. 5 ounce of mud later and about half a mile down the track we realised we missed the technical section.

He jumped his bike over the fence and I didn't wanna tell him it's a 'if you go off route, then come back and reconvene where you left it (or however Stu describes it in the blurb)' type of ride. Found the technical bit and then realised what all the racket from the bike was.

Full of muck all over the mech and everything. Enough to cause a seizure of the whole thing and I thought of you (yes, your Rohloff). Took about 20 mins in a deep clean method and I thought of that poor lad (name witheld... first timer but looked solid) and his drivetrain and what he might think I'd caused...

Saw poor good lad about 15 miles remainder whilst I was stood in the farmers field about to start prayers. Not sure if he saw me but I'd not blame him if he chose to ignore (the friggin mud).

Anyway... Stu, they both need a DQ. Which means I wasn't last (after 3 DNFs

I wondered if anyone had. Thanks for the info. Did you also clear the 25 percent half mile off road climb at about 60 miles. Stu said there was no HAB and my thought went straight to that section and wondered whether he actually rides it up... Just kept going and going and I wondered if I was gonna fall flat faced. Was wet mind...

Top route, and now the only person in the world with 3 orange badges (except Stu who has 58)

Thanks to Stu and Dee for the organising. Apologies for not having much chat at the end - was a bit knackered
Nice one Steve. Looking forward to seeing the route later this week. Thereafter, I might not like it so much, but quick times for the 200 and your 300 bode well.

There were a few HAB bits for me, partly because of ruts, partly because of steepness. In one place also because of slippy rocks (but it was a lot wetter when I did it).

I'd need to look Bob but I do know there were more blacks than owt else, only a handful of DNF but quite a few DNS.

Not to derail the "can you spare a fiver" thread. Will the café at xxxx be open for the November edition? I'll be taking cash to avoid all electronic doubt!

Hopefully but I'll include details when I send the route out. It was all somewhat last minute this time.
