BB 200 OS Explorer maps

Post by lune ranger »

Is it pushing it to ask which OS Explorer maps I might need to buy to cover BB200 this year? It’s kind of too late once the route is published.

…. I don’t object to buying a few more than needed if you want to keep an air of mystery

I'm pretty much there with the 200 route but just a little unsure about a section that would push things over onto another map.

Will there be a Spotwalla Spot Tracker Map that we can add our trackers too this year?

Nope and I'd ask that no one sets up any public on-line tracking for Oct as that will then put Nov riders at a potential advantage / disadvantage.

I'd imagine it would need to be properly dry to get over all this recent rain, but I've not been in the area recently so I couldn't say for sure.

When I was in Keswick recently the Oxfam shop had a whole bunch of old OS maps for mid Wales so I picked up a 7 sheets. Hopefully when the BB 200 route gets put up Ill be able to plot it on the sheets. Better use of time than another Netflix series!

Is there a date when the October BB 200 will go out to riders?

Cheers

Related, does anyone have a good option for Garmin maps? I'm sure I used BBBike last time but when I put them on my Garmin they don't seem to be loading.

Maybe I'm selecting the wrong type?

I've got them off here for years Rich and never had a problem.

looks like you can only select by country atm.

They used to be the best, but if you actually try to get one now you notice that there are something like 80,000 requests in the queue. Tis dead.

Cheers. I went with this one for now as I didn't fancy paying until I've got time to properly check them out.

The Garmin link is a bit odd, you select "tiles" and the system builds a map for you. I used it for the maps for my 520 as that device is limited in the file size so you need to add/remove tiles until it shows something suitable.

For everything else I've used openfietsmap, got a few countries on the Oregon.
