Van Tarp Poles Needed
Hi!
I have a tarp that I would like 2 poles for to be rigged off the side of my van. I think maybe about 5.5 ft to create a slope for the weather etc. They don't need to be light but relatively cheap. Has anyone got any ideas where I can go for them, or what to Google please? Not doing so well finding what I want.
Many thanks.
Allen

Search for telescopic clothes line props, cheap and effective (I got some from Wilko's but loads of places have them).
PS, you may have to improvise the attachment point between tarp and pole but it's not hard.

I use a Decathlon tarp with my van.
It has segmented alu poles with a foot and a spike at the end for the tarp holes/guys.
The sell the poles separately, or you get a couple with their small tarp and some nice guys for £20
Nice guys!

I looked for quite a while (S&S way too expensive for me) and had a couple of non-delivered Chinese orders.
Got these the other day, which seem ideal - https://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/15904936/h ... m-15904936

The phrase, to search for, is "king poles"
Re: Van Tarp Poles Needed
Allen, unless you're already sorted I have a pair of metal poles approx 1/2" diameter each one in 4 parts approx 16-18" with spike at one end and plugged at other. Used to use them as you propose to but sold van some time ago.
They're yours if you want them, maybe chuck a £ or 2 at the Bear.

We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.
Re: Van Tarp Poles Needed
If Allen hasn’t taken them, can I blast them off you please Pete?

Looks like Allen's taking them Taylor. I've asked him to send them on to you if they're not what he's after

Re: Van Tarp Poles Needed
I am the only one who thought this was a tarp made by a Dutch company?
Re: Van Tarp Poles Needed
Nope. And it's every time I see the post title...
There are theories at the bottom of my jargon.
Re: Van Tarp Poles Needed
There's a Van conversion firm called Vanking, which I can't help but assume is Dutch/German every time I see it.
Talking of Poles, we had to release our Polish cleaner - was taking hours over the hoovering. Turns out he was a Slovak.......

Re: Van Tarp Poles Needed
Back in the days when companies had receptionists, who - shock horror - answered the phone and put you through to the relevant person, I used to to deal with a company named "Wayne Kerr and Associates"
The receptionist, however, has a very strong American accent, which meant that answering the phone with the phrase "Hello, Wayne Kerr" wasn't best advised

I used to do a bit of business with Siemens, the German electronics company. They had two offices, so the receptionists had to make it clear which one you'd got through to. It would either be Siemens. Reading or Siemens. Staines

Also, those with a long enough memory in IT might recall the Wang company. They latterly specialized in Word Processing equipment. For a while, their slogan was Wang Cares
