How to? Making an 'A frame' for Trekkertent Stealth

Post by redefined_cycles »

Just thinking ahead as I'd not wanna risk missing out the full BAM experience when winter comes. The one thing I hate about the TT stealth is the fact the central main pole restricts entry.

I've already spoken to Stu about getting 2 poles to make myself an A frame (maybe reuse my current carbon pole from Stu or maybe I need to new ones... will sort that later) but it turns out that it's the user that inevitably decides how they make the A frame and Stu just supplies the poles.

So please may I ask how anyone who has managed to A frame their TT, how'd you do it and what's in your opinion the better way. Stu said people use a section of piping at the ends of the poles to join em together but this sounds a little flimsy to me. I'm not the best at setting up tents in the first place, especially in winter.

Thanks in advance

a length of plastic pipe from a plumbase. heated up with a hairdry or similar, and bent into a A shape.
it should push up into the space where the single pole goes.

obviously buy pipe to suit pole size. 20mm would work

Ah, I can see where you're going wrong here Shaf old sparrow. I think you've misinterpreted the "full winter BaM experience" as being something comfortable and pleasant  . Much better to abandon the Stealth altogether and enjoy the dubious pleasures and contortions of trying to get into and then get changed under a flat tarp in the icy peeing rain. If you can contrive things such that your clothes get wet overnight and you have to put them all back on again in the morning so much the better :-bd .
