Veloviewer heatmaps are where I've been, not where others have been. It's so I can square hunt.
Apologies Richard.

Besides, who would want to use Strava heatmaps in an area the BB200s cover?

Was having a look at a route. Lots of potential similarity to the 2014 WRT

I still have my maps marked up to highlight the terrible choices I made then!

That went north, these are mainly south and east - are you perhaps thinking 2015?

Defo thinking of the 2014 one. My first one and made some routing/planning errors so very memorable!

Went out across the UK border via the Kerry Ridgeway and then back via Llanidloes and Hafren

That was 2015 Ben. 2014 is the one nobody talks about

Weird, somethings up here. I was looking for photos to see when everything happened but can't find any. My strava VV activity map was labelled with it as 2014...

Doesn't matter either way, I will be avoiding some of those hellish death march sections

Sorry Ben - I'm a nob. You're talking about the WRT, I'm talking about the BB200 ... I'm easily confused this week.

The point to the west of Llangurig ... looks like it’s up a dead end track that’s not actually shown on the 1:25k maps. Worth a visit?

My "plan" is to have OS maps open on my phone and try to get to most of the GR near the start/finish point, maybe 2-3 out of the next bunch to the east, and skip the 3 that are further away altogether. Also, maybe finding slow riders that actually know what they are doing and try to keep up with their pace.
Is that a super stupid plan or just a stupid plan?

Oh, and BTW, still looking for a way to get to the start from Shrewsbury. Anyone up for a lift?

If only you could start and finish at Shrewsbury. You could bag most of this year's refs on a ride to-and-from Stu's but you'd miss out on all the tea, cakes and camaraderie at the start and finish
We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

Occurs to me that I should probably look to see what shops might be on route. I think I may have given myself nothing on the first day until Welshpool. I guess no biggy, I can run heavy to start with.

Dyffers and I will be in a ditch somewhere south of Pennant. If I had a clue where we were going to be you could come and join us. :-bd

Not sure, the star isn’t open as a pub I believe, any suggestions? It isn’t the same without the Friday night, I had to ride around most of Welsh mining history with Reg, sober

I woke up this morning but I’m still in the dark

I'd definitely be keen for random meet up on Friday. The Star was always good for that, especially as people could kip in the field/B&B/car park

I was hoping to rock up for the Friday evening but looks like it'll be a drive down Saturday morning. My middle lad leaves school on the Friday so a celebration meal is called for!

If people wanted to meet up somewhere, I imagine Mach' would make a reasonable venue. White Lion maybe ... however, I've no idea whether you're actually allowed inside pubs in Wales?

Yeah you are but there’s rules, table service only, 6 people from different groups, one must be called Brian etc.
