Andrew and James finished overnight.

Josh is on the home straight, I think he's got a chance of sub 4 days?

It's much tougher to be further down the field, you're on the go for much much longer plus every night you spend out you don't get as good a rest as you would at home so the fatigue builds up.

I also found that by day 5 the novelty of not having a shower/bath and wearing the same sweat/dirt/smigde/suncream* encrusted shorts was wearing thin.

*The suncream might not be a normal issue, just in 2018

Liam never stops amazing me despite what he did last BB event. Congratulations!! 3 and a half days, I guess a longer course than Neil Beltchenko's record and worse weather. The only one who has won 2 times and on completely different bikes. Incredible! And also well done to James and Andrew, very quick as well.

For me it was the saddle sores, and the creaking as you woke up. Some vitamin I and two Pro Plus
formed a key part of my breakfast regime. I did manage a long lie on my last day though - leaving at 6:15 instead of my usual 4:45, as I almost didn’t want the race to end.

Looks like the group of three currently in/climbing out of Glen Lichd are on track for a sub 5day finish, it's under 20hrs from there.
as I almost didn’t want the race to end.
When I got to FA on the return leg I seriously considered turning left and heading round the top two loops again as I was enjoying it so much.

I see Steve Waters is climbing up towards Camban bothy. Love that section, scenery is just stunning the whole way down Glen Affric. Go Steve!

Yeah but he didn't have a smashed up hub javi ;-)

Seriously, it's one of the most impressive rides I've seen.

David Murray has been at the Fisherfield crossing for quite a while, is his dot stuck or is it nipple deep?

Looks like he bivvied there http://trackleaders.com/highland21i.php ... vid_Murray and possibly not set his SPOT going this morning. Last update from it was just after midnight. Mike Dennison crossed about half an hour ago - http://trackleaders.com/highland21i.php ... e_Dennison and Tom Robinson did so an hour ago. Most likely he's not started his SPOT.

The women's race is hotting up. Emma seems to have closed the gap on Annie.

Fantastic achievement by Liam, and incredibly strong rides by Andy, James and Josh. The race this year is different to how I had imagined it, but in many ways is exceeding expectations. The main body of the field is showing real grit and determination to keep plugging away and (I hope) they are all enjoying themselves.

And a big shout to Journeyman and Trep and Mart - huge respect to those 3 (and as my Spot is with JB he is my clear favourite here!!)

I just opened the Eilean Donan webcam, to see a rider crossing the bridge :-bd
11.56ish, so presumably John Fettis, or it could be htrider, looking at his tracker 'ping' time.
EDIT - deffo Phil I reckon
Looks like they'll get a tail wind up Glen Affric, which is nice....

That's great! Still loving watching the dots.

Lars hasn't moved for almost an hour I don't think, unless his spot hasn't pinged.

If the system doesn't receive a ping from a device for 30 minutes then the icon with their initials on it becomes semi-transparent. On a desktop you can hover your mouse/pointer over it and it shows how long ago the last ping was received. As it happens Lars' marker has now moved and he's by the camping site at Morvich.

Yup, this could be interesting. Emma almost caught Annie this morning when Annie stopped in Kinlochewe.

Has anyone else noticed how they're both pulling the same face in their headshots on TL?

Annie posted on her Instagram stories that she waited for Emma, as "it's not a race, and it's nice to see a friendly face!"

Trep is enjoying the Ledmore traverse so much that she sent no fewer than 4 messages saying "this path is a bitch".
