One of my favourite riding jackets is an old liner fleece out of a snowboarding jacket. It's a fleece but so thin you can see through it when you hold it up to the light. It also has 3 zipped pockets but 2 of the zips have failed now so it's ready for replacement.
Thanks,
Rob

Hard to say what your looking after, so best advice I can give is to go to a local outdoor shop and try some on. Perhaps bring along the one you like so much and go through the options with an employee.
I feel this advice is more helpful than if I recommend some options from var. brands.

Re: Recommend a fleece
Maybe a Patagonia R1 or something similar in that gridded format (both montane and RAB do similar)
Re: Recommend a fleece
Is it for cycling and high energy pursuits? If so then something from polartec alpha direct

Alternatively; if you're happy with it you could just have the zips replaced .
Sometimes, finding just the right combination of fit/colour/breathability/cost/etc. can be a bit of a PITA .
Plus you'd earn bonus eco-points for keeping it going .

Re: Recommend a fleece
My eldest bought me a Columbia fleece at Christmas and it's lovely,
I wear it for best though it's quite retro like the old bobbly fleeces
But so so comfy, this post isn't much help but it's an ace jacket

I’ve got a Rab gridded fleece pullover that I got cheap off SP. I mostly use it for winter running or as a mid layer when walking. I found it a bit warm the only time I used it on a bike since it’s got no vents other than a half zip at the front.

I've got an Alpkit Griffon which I like a lot but it's not strictly a fleece.
Got my eye on a Patagonia R1 Air, they're a tad spendy though.
