Über niche chainring search - HELP!!!

Post by gairym »

I'd love to use my lovely old Middleburn 'RS7's on my gravel bike BUT I can't find a chainring to suit.

I'm looking for an 11 speed, narrow/wide, 38T, 5 arm chainring with a 94 BCD.

Given the choice I'd have it oval too but I'll settle for round. :-bd

Anybody know of anything, anywhere that'll work?????

Find out when these are back in stock? https://www.stridsland.com/shop/94-bcd- ... chainring/

Any reason you wouldn't change the spider? I have a couple of different sizes, if it wasn't for the hassle of posting overseas I'd offer to swap :(

Square taper or X-Type?
You could always ditch the spider and get a Middleburn Uno Thick/Thin ring - round.

https://www.mountainbikecomponents.co.u ... tt-spider/

Or..... nothing. A few days ago they had them for square taper as well, but not now.
If you are going through hell, keep going.

Thanks for that, at least I know that one exists not even if they don't have any.

And I seem to recall they don't make the replacement spiders for that model any more (I look into solving the problem about one a year).

RS2... lush I had done for years but the taper split when I was reattaching them to a bike a few years ago.
No more spiders for those. I think BETD/mountainbikecomponents.co.uk do standard 5arm 94bcd rings though.

Wolftooth do 94bcd TT rings.
You see a lot of those cranks on ebay, despite all of the ones I saw back in the day (including mine) cracked across the taper...

Thanks, but only up to 32T.

It's for my skinny tyred gravel bike, which doubles as my road bike, so I'm hoping that lower intensity riding won't stress the crank arms too much (but will certainly be keeping an eye out for cracks now).

I didn’t know that the cracks were ‘a thing’.
If it is at all relevant mine split as I torqued it onto a new BB rather than in use.
