Find the valve quicker (like in winter, when snow is hiding it)
But surely it's easy to find the valve in those circumstances as it's opposite the logo on the hub.

Which I thought was a similar reason to lining tyre logos up: shows attention to detail. There's no practical reason to line the hub logo up with the valve hole when building a wheel, but you do it to demonstrate attention to detail and pride in your work. Same as the cabinetmaker who makes sure even the hidden joints are near.

Or the the (possibly apocryphal) story of the band (can't remember who now) requesting M&Ms with the brown ones removed on their rider, as a test for the same.

There's no practical reason to line the hub logo up with the valve hole when building a wheel,
Apart from help finding the valve in the snow. :wink:

Agreed. It's harder to align the valve with the logos because you have to hold the tyre stationary and turn the wheel, which I think is harder than holding the wheel and turning the tyre :wink: .

Irrespective of how much snow there is, surely the valve will still be attached to the wheel :roll: .

So it won't be that hard to find... :wink:.
