The saga continues, went round this morning to try to find the goatherd. The dogs were playing around the barn but he was nowhere to be seen. Waited about an hour but no sign, at least the dog we want is still there. Having seen him up close, I actually prefer him to his fat brother, he's also pretty confident once he's had a few treats. We'll try again later.

Went back at lunchtime and he had just returned with his flock. He immediately said "have you come to pick up the dog?" He went and found it and thrust it into my arms. I offered payment but he wouldn't hear of it. He started chatting enthusiastically about colin this and colin that, just then our Swiss friend arrived and he continued the colin discussion with her. Turns out colin is collie in Catalan, We're tempted to have a rethink on the name  So got him home and had a proper inspection , a visit to the vet is required as he has an umbilical hernia which needs attention, also  HE SEEMS TO BE A SHE!. Trish thinks a suitable gender neutral name of Charlie seems to fit.

She was a bit subdued at first but soon settled down. Bath tomorrow plus tick check.

Gorgeous, my wife runs a dog sanctuary, we get lots of collie dogs in as owners misunderstand their needs. I love them

Hoping to rehome a dog, soon - been nearly two years without the scrabble of claws on the kitchen floor, and that's too long

Charlie's had a busy morning, up at 2am whining, went out for a poo. 6am for a walk down the drive, mid morning brush then bath then more brushing, cue numerous ticks and fleas manning the lifeboats. Now flat out in the sun, vet booked for tomorrow.

A totally accurate description of a bikepacker's day (*) . Sign him up immediately.

(*) Although personally I'd give the vet visit a miss to be honest. It takes balls (**) to do some of the stupid things we get up to.

(**) Sorry to female Boners, I had to fit the joke to the narrative  .

Perhaps we should ask the female Boners if they'd rather have a more fetching collective noun?

With some trepidation can I suggest Bonettes? Covers a rock hard Col in the Alps and headgear. What with Easter imminent

Thanks for asking, but personally I am quite happy being an honorary/metaphorical boner with balls :-bd

As you wish. Perhaps it's me that's uncomfortable being a boner

She's gorgeous! If we got another collie, it would be a bitch - they seem much calmer.

Vet was impressed, she's had 1st injection & worm tablet which means she's been shitting white elastic bands for 24 hours. Back in 2 weeks for 2nd jab and chip, then hernia repair and speying in July. Several short walks today followed by sleeps, she walks very closely to heel, I keep tripping over her. Seems house trained which is a bonus considering she previously lived in a barn. All good so far, seems to like Top Gear as well

She's grown a bit in the last 6 weeks, just playing with an old GoPro that my neighbour gave me. Up and down the drive so far from the road. No baby robins were harmed in the making of this video.
