I just received a Shimano XT hub wheel, planning to run with SON lights front and rear.
Also in the box was a ‘Dynamo Overvoltage Protector’ part number SM-DH10.
I’ve not actually got a clue what this is for (aside the obvious, to stop Overvolting?! ). Do I need to fit it? Will I trash my lights without it? I thought it was just a matter of plugging all the lights together to the hub...

Seems to be to protect bulbs if one blows but never had one , never fittedo ne, never used one and I have had a variety of dynamo hubs and lights
I would not bother personally and would assume modern lights dont need this feature - but not 100% certain
