Theres a little nature reserve just past Dunford Bridge heading towards Penistone on the left. I'd recommend going a bit further into Thurlstone and after a few pints in the Huntsman, you'll sleep anywhere, tell them Duncan sent you and you'll get a warm welcome from Sam the landlady. If Andy Plummer is in, you could sleep in his garden which backs onto the trail.

Re Andy, he's a fell runner and MRT legend, tell me when you're planning to be down that way and I'll contact him. He lives in Penistone, I lived in Millhouse Green for 10 years prior to moving to Spain.

There are a few (wife used to live in Barnsley *shudder*). It's a pretty busy trail over a lot of it, so you'll not necessarily get a properly quiet night.

Yeah... you don't wanna be spending a night out in Barnsley pls Allen  Especially not on the TPT. There's only one thing worse than a STWer, you do know that right?? A Barnsley STWer  Done a few shifts over there aswell and the legend is true...

Anyway, enjoy and hope you get a peaceful night sleep :-bd

Does it have to be between Glossop and Barnsley... Why not just walk the bike up towards Kinder Scout (and hope the temps don't go down to 7 overnight) and then ride across to the other side. So beautiful, it really is... A decent section of the TPT is near enough me. Plenty of houses/people around in the non-covid years... It'll most likely be people logged Allen.

Just nick one of Daves (FLV) routes from his Strava and do that. Most likely plenty bivvy spots

It's more a trip of necessity than a fun trip. Don't want to get public transport and unsure if I have the legs to do it in one....

I can't remember the last time I browsed Strava!

I also don't know where my roam is :(

Aha. Fair enough. To be fair I'll probably try out Duncans bivy spot sugggestion at some point and I made it sound more cruel than it is. It's actually rather lovely. Make sure you have some decent tires/gearing though

I'll PM you some in a bit. It's possible to Pop off the longendale to some quieter spots without going too far off route
